NO it doesnt, ime on a rural delivery that takes 5hrs 15mins start to finish every day i also have to go on ips for 30mins.the computer said my round took 6hrs to complete so the guy doing the revision told the computer i only deliver 70% of the deleviry to get the computer to say it takes 4hrs 10mins.also computer was told 1 packet or parcel to every 50 calls average 1 sign for every day UTTER RUBBISH I recentley had a counciling session which went on my record for having more than 1 bundle of mail in the front of my vehicle.I now do the job exactley how they want it doing and it takes 6hrs 40mins.(ie stick to speed limits, secure vehicle, seatbelt ,get mail from rear of van for every delivery point) We have yet to have the 1 hr deducted from our working week , Althogh some rounds are a doddle we have staff going home 3hrs early when this is bought up to managers about sharing the workload all you get is THE COMPUTER SAYS it was those idiots that put the wrong info into the computers to start with..It will never work while we have managers that knock off early every day and shrug there shoulders when you ask for help....

:hmmmm

give them enough rope :left:

all management will end up doing is showing senior management that they have a lot of spare hours in their day.

We have been doing the revision for 6 weeks in pairs and our office has been given 200 hours a week overtime extra to cover, their are night sorters in and extra managers helping out but on my round which is supposed to be 4 hours 15 minutes takes about 5 hours .
Being part-time I am contracted to now start at between 7.30-8.00 for 6 and a half hours for 5 days changed from 8 hours for 4 days.
To complete my round before cut off I have to deliver my 1st letter at 9 o'clock.
At the moment they want me to come in at 6am .
BUT
When I am eventually starting at 8 o'clock how can I sort do packets, bundle up, do redi's, kill offs, throw off up to 6 households , have meal relief and drive to my start point in 1 hour
The managers dont mind when you go over every day but if you cut off they dont like it to say the least

The truth of the matter is that you CANNOT do all you say so do not worry about it just plod on through the day and if there is mail you are unable to deliver then it is NOT your fault, remember you need to have a witness with you when you tell your manager you will not be able to complete and that he has to tell you what to take out, that way it is his fault if there is any mail un-delivered.
P.S: You are paid to deliver mail not make decisions of how much mail, if your manager questions the amount you take out which is more than you think then ask him to come out with you. (he will run a mile :whistle )

The thing I have noticed with P&L is the time it takes. A delivery that would take me 3hrs doing it the old way is taking 4hrs P&L - and that's with the loops worked out as well as they can be. There's too much pissing around.

It just takes longer, simple as that - so in 99% of cases whatever the walkspan is planned at is going to be wrong.

Yes I agree.Have you also noticed that with park and loop there is not much difference in the time it takes whether the mail is light or heavy? Because your walking it any way it makes little difference (well on my duty any way)

Our round is council and is ebay city. We can have like today 8 specials and 6 tracked and 30 recorded and the specials have to be done 1st as we cant get to half of them in time which slows you down , The walks are all wrong with too much dead walking as we were not consulted by the planners, we had 3 packet bags of parcels and a York of big packets plus 17 bags of mail.
Writing out the dockets is the timewaster after using your scanner and Pegasus doesnt take that into account on the council rounds.
Fulltimer (my driver) comes in at 6.15 and Im supposed to start at 8 although Im starting at 6 at the moment.
We had 3 walksorted trays each plus we went up sorting for 30 minutes each, its madness I had only cut off once in 7 years and since we have started the revision havent finished the round on time once , booked extended about 6 times and cut off the rest as my driver has to pick up his daughter from school which never used to be a problem before. The round time was also increased at our office from 3 hours 50 mins to 4 hours 15 mins (according to Pegassus)more like 5 hours
