Moya should not have accepted bonus.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/ ... -work.html
The new chief executive of Royal Mail has been paid a bonus which is the same as the Prime Minister’s salary for less than nine months’ work. Moya Greene, a former head of Canada Post who took over at Royal Mail in July last year, received nearly £780,000, including a performance related-bonus of £142,000. David Cameron, the Prime Minister, is paid £142,500 a year.
The news came as the national postal operator -which the Government wants to privatise -posted large losses, and warned that it was now technically insolvent, relying on the support of the Government to stay in business. Tens of thousands of further job losses also appear inevitable after Royal Mail said it was planning to halve its mail centres over the next four years.
Last night Adrian Bailey MP, the chairman of the House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills committee which has oversight of Royal Mail, said she should not have accpeted the payment. He said: "In view of the disappointing results from Royal Mail you would expect the chief executive to forego any bonus. It would demonstrate that she is feeling the pain that the employees are going through." Brian Scott, Unite’s national officer, said: “At a time when Royal Mail is haemorrhaging money this is an excessive reward for failure.”
Dave Ward, the CWU’s deputy general secretary, said: “Moya Greene is paid 34 times the average postman. She got a bonus as high as the Prime Minister's salary and told our members they couldn't have any bonus. "There are serious problems with executive pay in this country and Royal Mail is a prime example.”
Ms Greene’s total remuneration package was £777,000 for the eight and a half months to the end of March this year. As well as the bonus, it comprised £350,000 of her £498,000 basic salary, and benefits worth £145,000, including cash to cover the cost of her moving house from Canada. Her package included the cost of two flights a year back to Canada, and unspecified “financial advice” for her. There was also a further £20,000 for a new pension plan and a promise of £120,000 in cash, paid to her in lieu of pension when she leaves Royal Mail.
Adam Crozier, the former chief executive, received an annual salary of £633,000 in the last financial year, with a total payout of £2.4 million before he left on March 31 2010. Ms Greene admitted she was “well paid”, adding: “When so many people in the United Kingdom are struggling to put two ends together I think it would be very ungracious of me to comment on my pay.” Donald Brydon, Royal Mail’s chairman, added: “Moya Greene has already made an exceptional contribution to Royal Mail Group. “Her bonus award reflects that contribution and is assessed against measured objectives. The award is appropriate and proportionate.”
A Department for Business spokesman said: “This is a challenging business and it is important that management are adequately rewarded for their contributions.” The payments came as Royal Mail admitted that it was “balance sheet insolvent” and Ms Greene said Royal Mail had been in "significant financial difficulty for a number of years".
The full year figures showed that Royal Mail lost £258million in the 12 months to 27 March 2011, down from £320million in the year before. Royal Mail’s core letters business plunged from a £20million profit into a £120million loss. The company warned of a 25 per cent fall in numbers of letter sent over the next five years. Figures also showed that the company’s pension deficit had halved from £8billion to just £4.5billion, because of changes to the way the Government calculates pension increase and an improvement in market conditions. The company’s annual report also disclosed that in 2010/ 11, 312 former staff were prosecuted for tampering or interfering with the mail. The company said that this should be seen against its total workforce of 163,000.

Re: Moya should of not accepted bonus.
She is a Canadian here to destroy Royal Mail as we know it, just like how Thatcher used the American Ian MacGregor (BL, British Steel and NCB) and the South-African Michael Edwardes (BL).
How much worse can it get? A LOT F****** WORSE !!!

Oh, that's where our College Shares went, then.Dave Ward, the CWU’s deputy general secretary, said: “Moya Greene is paid 34 times the average postman. She got a bonus as high as the Prime Minister's salary and told our members they couldn't have any bonus.
No, but you like rubbing it in, anyway.Ms Greene admitted she was “well paid”, adding: “When so many people in the United Kingdom are struggling to put two ends together I think it would be very ungracious of me to comment on my pay.”
Donald Brydon, Royal Mail’s chairman, added: “Moya Greene has already made an exceptional contribution to Royal Mail Group.

She got all that money for being the only Canadian, bum-chair warmer this country has ever produced, after that other little sh*t, Crazier.
...Her bonus! More like her bone-ass!

No way should she have been given a bonus, let alone accept it, seems all RM do is reward failure, Leighton, Crozier, and now this crazy cow Moya the destroyer.

Dave...but you said...in May 2010.Dave Ward, the CWU’s deputy general secretary, said: “Moya Greene is paid 34 times the average postman. She got a bonus as high as the Prime Minister's salary and told our members they couldn't have any bonus.
Dave Ward, the deputy general-secretary of the Communication Workers Union, said it was "good to see the appointment of a person with a public sector background ".
And in June 2010......
"In addition, industrial relations are transforming from confrontation to co-operation and we are looking forward to working with the newly appointed chief executive Moya Greene - someone with significant experience in the industry."
No moaning about pay then, just some serious sucking up.
Foot/mouth/mouth/foot.
