A MAN who stole a Royal Mail bike said he found it at Lincoln bus station.
Johannes Einhaus, 36, of St Rumbold's Street, Lincoln, was stopped by police as he rode through the city.
Jim Clare, prosecuting, told Lincoln magistrates: "Police officers stopped a man riding a Royal Mail bicycle.
"He was searched and a Lloyds TSB bank card belonging to someone else was found in his wallet.
"In interview he said he found the bike at Lincoln bus station and that he had found the bank card outside HSBC bank in Lincoln High Street.
Representing himself, Einhaus said: "I thought someone had thrown the bike away.
"I was hoping to give the bank card to police."
Einhaus was found guilty of the thefts by magistrates at a hearing on Tuesday, April 19, which he failed to attend.
Yesterday, Einhuas pleaded guilty to failing to surrender on April 19 and to breaching a previous six-month conditional discharge.
Magistrates stood the case down awaiting reports.
