Re: lapsing
So the overly agressive managers harrassing us over lapsing has led to an official complaint from our union area rep apparantly! Saturday lapsing calls were much quieter and less forcefull so the battle is not won but we are winning the fight

Newbie here.
When duties get lapsed, what happens to person originally doing the duty? Were they normally done by OT or casuals?

Re: lapsing
In our DO it was mainly casuals kicked off their walks and instead made into spares covering holiday etc.Nevasleep wrote:Newbie here.

Re: lapsing
Most Delivery Offices seem to have one, or several, duties that are "ear-marked" for lapsing. They're normally centrally situated and convent to the surrounding duties for "Chopping Up"!
Our "Lapsed" duties used to have loads of little coloured stickers all over the frame to indicate which duty took which section. Bloody Confusing for the rest of the year when you're trying to throw of the mail and read the road names!
If someone goes sick it's less organised. DIM says, "Everyone take a piece of Duty No 1" Lot of people say," I'll do it when I get back if I've got the time" and then don't bother! Usual Idle Buggers, and Favourites, take a single "Bundle" of 20 odd houses. Part-Timers/Newbies/The Uninformed/Mugs end up with an extra "Bag" Full.
