One guy, who probably has the biggest round in the office now, gets in early to prep and throws his d2ds in when he gets back ready for the next day. We have tried on many occassions to explain to him that there's no way they will trim his walk to a reasonable size if they know he's going to do ten hours work for free each week. But he carries on regardless. Mind you he is a strike breaking scab and and annoying turd in general so I'm not surprised!

Well we had a revsion 2 months ago and as soon as that happened everyone started to come in at the right time. However, a few have crept back into old habits and have started to get in early.

Most in my office start early, three camps.
1. The runners who still think it's job& finnish.
2. The scared to cut off, who start early or work through tea break or both, "so they can get finnished on time".
3. Those who do so because camp 1 & 2 make anyone who starts at correct time and takes there full break look so bad.

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
I did abit of overtime yesterday afternoon on packets and returned to my office long after caller office had closed and dim had gone home... i came in to find one postie and his family (wife and kids) throwing in next weeks D2D's... the youngest kid was folding them whilst passing them to his mum whilst she inserted another 3 D2D;s who then passed them onto dad (postie) who prepped them into his fitting.... he prepped all 4 rows before going home... he then today delivered all next weeks door to doors!! all this after coming in 45 mins early which he does every day..it totally beggars belief the things i see in my office..... The same postie in question has even been known to come in on a sunday and prep all his D2D,s if for some reason they arrived late on a saturday!! can anyone out there beat this story?? i believe i work with the biggest Royal Mail Cretin known to man

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
I work nights on the CSS machines. Our DOM told us we had to lock the doors to stop anyone coming in early, which we did. We have to open them again about half an hour before the f/t start times so they still sneak in to their frames. Strangely, it's the ones whose sequenced mail is in the bottom box on the last yorks we do, so they have to wait to get their last box of mech, the more they try to hassle us......well half the office ends up late. We just can't handle the pressure.
Break.
The thing is, we have times for each batch clearly displayed with the last batch due to be completed at 09.15, but they still want it at 08.00 so they can sit and wait half an hour for the last lorry. Sorry, I work my hours, I don't resent anyone finishing early if they put the effort in, but not at everyone else's expense.

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
when are these ppl goin to wise up???? its a managers job to get the most out of his staff. if a manager is lucky enough to get 40 hours work out of an employee he is one happy man, if he can get 50 or 60 hours (with the other 10 of 20 for free) he is doin cartwheels cos he knows his holiday next year is paid for. if you come in early and have an accident the manager WILL say you werent due in the office so its your fault. to all those who come in early, use your car, finish before time and work for free. THANK YOU for ruining my job.

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
only about 10-15% of our small DO start early, the worst is one hour.
all FT staff with 10 years+ in the job.
piss funny when they are off out lapsing though while we are still throwing in

I take pleasure in sitting at my frame with a coffee and a bite to eat while others work
I never start work early and never ever work over
we have a few who start as early s 0430 for a 0600 start
even better when they are on the same van as me getting out

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
We took up our new duties today in my office(part time revison). Walked in at 9am passed the break room and saw about 20 part timers there. Presumed there was a meeting going on or even work time learning. I found out later that the manager had sent all the early starts into the break room and told them they werent to go on the work floor till their start time.
About bloody time. There is 40 part time postmen in my office and your lucky if 5 people start on their time. At least 2 come in at 6am. The rest anytime from 7am onwards so I was delighted to find them all pissed of for having to sit about all morning.
Hopefully this with all the ovetime they will be claiming or the cut offs the DOM might actually see understaffed we are and fill up a few of the 10 vacant full time duties at least.

We have a guy who regulary starts 40-45 mins early and we have 30mins at our frame before the IPS starts other than D2D i really don't have much other work avaliable to do before going to the IPS.... i really do wonder what he's doing for 1 hour 15 mins.
