Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
At our office, we have a postie who is waiting at the door to get in at 3.30!!!! He doesnt officially start til 6.00. He goes in and helps the managers to put out bundles and packets. He has done this for over 20 years

I always start at my start time. Especially as we have to do a "donor" walk. For me thats a cycle away from my walk of 10 mins each way across the busiest junction in town to deliver to 40 houses. Absolute ball ache. Theres plenty of fools who come in early as it is, and the fools that go out in their own cars, and never book overtime when they protract. The managers just love them.

Before revision i used to come in 10-15 minutes early everyday to get my walk thrown in and get bags on van.Since revision i have huge delivery plus lapsing to do before my round so theres no rush.

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
Managers should make everyone come in at their proper times and stop using their cars! they won't as they know it helps them and their BIG BONUSES we have partimers coming in at least 1 hr before time everyday and full time throwing 2 boxes of mail off before their start times, thats why the job is feked.joeboy wrote:was at a meeting a couple of months ago, when my dim was told not to let anyone start before there time, this has now happened, but he lets them come in early to do their d2ds, upshot is they now sort there walk-sort bundles into streets, GIVE ME STRENGHT!!!

I barely make it in on time these days (I personally blame FB for keeping me late) but I still get out the door around the same time as the early starters

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
I went in early a couple of weeks ago...officially and paid obviously.
The smell of desperation in the air from the early starters almost made me vomit.
They are a different species, they don't talk to each other or drink coffee or even appear to blink because that would waste time and those letters don't prep themselves.
If their sequenced trays are not in they can be found sobbing in corners or randomly walking in circles as if something in their head is broken.

If i get in and no meched mail has arrived the early, early starters are pacing the floor waiting for the lorry all on edge
I tend to walk around and have a chat to people whilst we wait
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
I sometimes get in early, depends on outside variables. We're pre-revision, and if you get in early, in all likelihood you'll finish early as well. I'm not saying it's right, but when the ten/twenty/thirty year men are running around not giving a frak just to get home for an early lunch, you're fighting a losing battle. If new-starts were coming into a job where everybody started at their time and worked to their time, they'd be doing it as well. It's the old boys club setting the worst example.

Re: How many posties on here, start at the correct time?
I get in 5 mins before my start time(5.30). This morning at 5.45 some idiot was scurrying around trying to find his mail even though he don't start till 6.30. Another told me to stop bullying him about coming in early and then comes moaning to me when hes had stuff added to his walk and expects me to do something about it
When will these idiots learn
