staffing levels on ILSMs

Anyone help out here, wish to know if there is an agreement
on manning levels that can be downloaded. This has come about
because a manager is trying it on when as he says " when the
oppurtunity arises" to have staff doing other work whilst machine
is still running. Thanks in advance.

Something on here a while back about 3 people should work on an iLSM but more may be agreed locally if needed. If your down to 3 I would have thought it was impossible to do any other work not related to putting work in the machine or taking it out due to the speed the thing works at. Dont think there was any agreement on iLSMs you would have to ask Area Processing Rep or contact CWU headquarters to ask about manning levels. Only other alternative is to let the thing fill up and press stop everynow and then to catch up or when it jams. It will then take longer to clear down at the end. Offer no resistance to the manager just continue at a steady speed. Eventually seeing their latest idea results in lower throughput they will give up, but they wont let you warn them of that to save time.

Many thanks "Teesdale" what you have posted is the same as what we were
led to believe were the staffing levels for the ILSMs, as i first posted the
manager was just trying it on because staffing levels have been cut not just
to the bone but into the marrow.Was hoping there was a download available
that could have been pinned up so he could'nt try the same stuff with lesser
experienced staff. Thanks again

i work in the mail centre in edinburgh
its a local agreement that 5 staff memebers to each machine,3 on the machine running it and 2 for transportation and break cover.
the staff members swap roles during the week so everyone gets a shot at being on the machine and transporting mail to the machine.
if staff members are off on holidays etc they will try and man the machine up but most times we have to do with out and have a core group off 3 staff on the machine running it at one time.....
its a local agreement for 5 in edinburgh,dunno if it applys where you from?

Thanks "jscotlander" thats the same set up as there is in
GMC, as my original post said the manager was just trying
it on and he will try it again with less experienced staff
once we are into the main holiday periods. Thanks again
