that depends on what office you are in and how high up in the seniority rankings you are.

for new joiners it could be hell
Yes, it varies considerably office to office, the smallest ones often being the best, and if low down on seniority consider applying for any unpopular vacancies to get your own walk and a full time contract without waiting too long. :Very Happy

+1 i agree with this totally
The camaraderie is excellent as is the Solidarity of most colleagues. :left:
My office is split like this:
30% wierdos
30% w******* who dont give a monkeys about anyone else
30% Normal people who dont make any effort talking to people that havnt been there 5+ years
10% decent people who will go out of their way to help you and chat to you

I cant speak for all the delivery offices but there doesnt seem to be a lot of good stories on here!

Anyone that feels this job is okay will not think that 2 years from now, and thats one thing you can bank on.

I work in a small office and its run by 2 tyrants who lie at every given opportunity! The banter is spot on, bar a few who can give it but cant take it. Stvgooner obviously fed up where he is and wants a change, if so, go for it. Its hard work, but decent for the money once your settled and know your way round. They`ll keep you on long term PT as there understaffed nationwide after sacking 50% of the FT staff, but you`ll NEVER get made FT - Fact. Its the only thing we have left, and theyll never give it anyone else from here on in.

If you do go, give it a month before you decide whether to stay or not.

Good luck
"but you`ll NEVER get made FT - Fact. Its the only thing we have left, and theyll never give it anyone else from here on in." - yes, i've heard that lately, but didn't the agreement nearly two years ago have a commitment by Royal Mail to Full Time jobs, one of very few benefits for us in it ?

If you need a job, it is not a bad job, but I wouldn't recommend it as a career or very long term job.

It could be worse and being out in the fresh air compared to a stinky factory is a bonus. But these 4hr + deliveries are getting really tough now esp with 6 lots of d2d, its real hard work.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

If you are fit and healthy give it a go in the short-term.
but seriously if you value your health and mental wellness think twice about staying with a company thats
dangerously/recklessly increasing the postmens workload.
I swear thats it feels like im working on the titanic.
The rats are already eying up the lifeboats!
Theres a huge iceburg of a revision being implemented
The tish is just about to hit the fan as its so unworkable.
I'm a postman-and i know where you live.....
