Tiggle said 'bulk of our mail arrives at 5 and we start at 7.10 except tuesday when its 7.12! those with children to pick up from school finish on their time and the dom employs every form of royal mail management skill, bullying to persuade them to work over.the obvious solution would be to go back to an earlier start but that would involve a admitting a mistake has been made so i can't see it.'

Does someone :whistle at 07.12?

Plus IF everyone's taking all their packets with them they don't have to pay anyone to take them out on Over-time. Ching..Ching...Ching.. Jackpot!
Also to add with more mail centres closing mail has further to travel to get to the DO's. The speed and number of mail sequencing machines isn't up to scratch yet.

There is no good reason why we should be delivering mail so late in the day, none whatsoever.

The most damaging thing about the buffoon execs insistance on later deliveries, is the public view later deliveries as a failure on Royal Mail's part.

Since 2003 when SDD came in, along with later deliveries, I don't think the public have got used to them, nor even like them, I often get negative feedback from customers regarding later deliveries of mail.

It's my view that, the public won't ever get used to later deliveries.

And as for the planned later deliveries on Saturdays, this will be a focus for greater public resentment of the declining standards of the nation's postal ser...wait, I really cannot keep calling this a service, when it now plainly isn't, postal system, that's it, postal system......where was I?.....Ahhh, yes....this will be a focus for greater public resentment of the declining standards of the nation's postal system, Saturday, a day when many, many, people will have far better things to do on their weekend, than wait around for a pile of junk.

But, there we have it, in a nutshell, or nutcase where Royal Mail's concerned.

maybe its me being paranoid but i think later start times are part of a constructive dismissal plan because it worked when our times were moved from 5.00 - 6.00 many people left the industry ....money saved job done i think we will end up paying royal mail for the privelage of working for them...

It's much easier to recruit and retain on what most people outside the business would call a normal 8-4/9-5 attendance pattern rather than the early start patterns.
The easier it is to recruit...the more you can drive down wages. :cuppa

That would mean the end of my £20 defined area payment.

Our office has just under gone the new van share, no bikes, no life, late starting. No idea, new duties. What a total nightmare, its not working. Were all starting at different times, the work load is huge, with tracked and large packets. I was on delivery for 6.30 hour last week, its a total nightmare, who wants their mail at 6pm. The computers got it wrong, we are cutting off, and they are not paying overtime to those that go over...They pick and choose who's gonna get paid for going over. And we are constantly threatened with the conduct code.....but they are telling you its working, IT'S NOT....

no i think your spot on there all the changes in the last couple of years are aimed to get rid of the postman f/t with long service in so that they can bring in p/t that they can walk all over just think we start later now than we used to allso you now have to work with someone when you do park and loop which we are not use to they are out to get all f/t end of :evil/mad
