Of course they are, as are theirs.
that's fine,if not a little immature."whatever floats your boat i suppose " however were you not the one who originally came in here looking for an answer? moaned to postman that too many R.M staff were "sticking thier oar in" and yet here you are busting a gut to keep them here..to quote a classic film of 2004." Scooby doo's less confused than you! " (first one to name the film gets a prize)

Well really you can't have your cake and eat it.
On the one hand you call your colleagues dinosaurs for not wanting to sell and yet agree on he other hand that they shouldn't be made to.
I'd be interested to know how long you have been employed at POL and how old you are. I would guess, and this is not a criticism, that you haven't been employed long and you are quite young.
If you want a sensible suggestion look elsewhere for a long term future because no matter what you do or how hard you try you are going to be the first of the sell offs when RM is fragmented, followed by deliveries - the mech centres will not be sold for some time because there is the key to the mobility of mail throughout the land. The drivers however may well find they go the way of Parcelforce.

I'd guess he is still living at home with mummy and daddy if he thinks that he is well paid on £18K pa.
But what's wrong with that!

Put it in context. Well paid for what we do. I am not saying £18k is well paid, far from it. But for what we do. Especially when you see what the likes of axeman types. We are employed to hand over stamps. If his view is shared by the employers then yes we are well paid.
Over the years our job has become easier, less paper work involved, no benefit books, computers for balancing no paper balances. Less customers to serve.

You answer the point made with a scripted response from hearsay I would guess and not from personal experience.

Time to realise this/your website is monitered by RM communications. They also post to the Hellmail website too. No word of a lie , but my eldest brother was in the RM Internal Communications area. As a thought to the moderators of this website you might want to ask posters their CWU membership number (but that i think might not stop them) Funnily enough my bro was EVR'rd outta the business 2 years ago on a princely sum. Time to get clued up methinks...............
Wow catching up on this thread slowly but surely, you lot went mad while I was away.
As a Moderator Moon I am fully aware that we are being watched but as long as I say nothing that can construed either as illegal or actionable and everyone else takes that into account you can say nearly anything you want. Just don't cross the bounds of decency, say anything that is either sexist, racist or in anyway belittles the dignity of others, and is not pornographic in nature then you'll be fine they should not t be able to touch you.
With regard to getting peoples CWU membership number it would be self defeating as we are trying to be a Public Forum and not just a union mouthpiece. In fact personally I would like Alan Leighton and Adam Crozier to post on here so we could get their honest views. I also extend this invite to any manager within Royal Mail, and those workers who for their own reasons do not believe a Union should be in existence. As I have said in this post any honest opinion that is well thought out and does not criticise (except in a constructive manner) others opinions would be welcome - anyone from Genghis Khan to the Dalai Lama is welcome here.

Just a comment Armani seems surprised that Royal Mail Personnel are replying to his original posts, this has upset or annoyed him. However, as we are a country that has free speech then can I state here an now as a Moderator that anyone can comment (hopefully in a constructive way) to any post anywhere on this board.
However the original poster also has, as I see it, a responsibility to critically asses their own topic. As I have said before on this thread, this is where it all fell apart. The original post was negative in its tone and was nearly guaranteed to get a negative response especially on a pro-union site such as this.

The way it works in my office is this - I tell them what our target is for the year and how that breaks down to a quarter, a month, a week and a day. At the beginning of each week I tell them what we did last week and how that leaves us in regard to our overall YTD target. I then tell them where we are with our Income Target, because as long as we stay over 90% we qualify for the £1000 bonus associated with the conversion of our office to WHSmiths. I ask them what went well, in terms of conversations they are using, and I ask them for ideas regarding target customers, after all they serve them every day whereas I don't. Some target customers are obvious, anybody taxing a car obviously needs car insurance, so talk to them about it, but some of the other links are not so obvious, yet no less valid. The ones who are leaving to take VR I tend to leave to get on with it. The ones who are planning to stay I spend more time with, listening to what they say and trying to help them develop. Intimidation doesn't work, hassling them doesn't work. I get plenty of hassle from the level above me, but I rarely pass it down. What is the point, my team are already upset enough, why make it worse? As long as they come to work, serve the queue, don't hit any customers and we keep above the magic number of 90% I will be happy. !
If I was working in a PO I would prefer to work under a Manager with this approach. This type of Manager should not lead to stressed out counter staff and would be both sensible and compassionate in their dealing with staff. This would in turn lead to a good team spirit and less of a "them and us" feeling. I fear that Armani does not have a similar manger, this is not his fault, and may explain his negative approach in his posts.
everyone becomes more positive and less disparaging of each other

This one done it for me..hours of conversation trying to converse constuctively and i get this...i'm not big in to blatantly wasting my time...COME ON.... COME ON ,.....HURRY UP HARRY COME ON!! WER'E GOIN DOWN THE PUB!!
Most of the reason that it came across as negative is that it is taking such a long time for people to come on board with the new culture. Approx 3yrs.
If we had got it together in the first year instead of fighting about it I think we wouldn't be in such a state.
So basically the constant bickering has lead us to where we are. We have to dig ourselves back out and by cutting off customer access to P.O.'s or business clients from their mail we are only helping to drive them away. YES the company has done its fair share here by loosing contracts but we've added to it by giving them a reason to go elsewhere.
Like I said earlier our customers now have the choice to go anywhere for the services we offer. There is no longer the same loyalty due to the open market in which we are involved. Once they have gone they are gone.

Pistol, valid points to the questions I had asked originally. 95% of the topic just turned into a mud slinging contest. Even you were posting smilies to start.
