RTS

Post by plodsie »

While emptying a box the other day, I noticed the usual RTS on letters with the competitors postmark on them. According to the font of all knowledge, the Courier, RM has an agreement to return the letters to the sender for a nominated sum (God know's what this is). My question is, is this practice part of our USO? Since we did not collect these letters and only took part in the delivery by which we completed our USO to the competitor by delivering to the stated address. Why then are we using our resources (both monetary and in manpower) to return this mail? Surely this will be making us a loss? Why are RM not instructing our competitors to collect their RTS letters and return them to their customers themselves? Any ideas?
Glasgow driver.

Q. Who exactly are the Competition?
A. People who'll post a letter for you.

I don`t know exactly but I`m sure the "nominated sum" dosn`t cover our costs and obviously RM dosn`t want to upset DSA customers by charging a realistic figure.
At MC`s we are getting more and more DSA mail that has to be hand sorted because it cannot go through the machines ie: plastic wrapped, booklets, oversize, odd shaped ect. DSA is meant to be mechable mail only. when we ask any manager does RM claim extra from our competitors for it having to be hand sorted we get "dunno - probably", "not sure really", or the most optimistic "yeah I think so".
Ifwe do you can bet your bottom dollar that it will be a pitance compared to what it costs us,to my mind they should refusing non-mechable mail or be charging as much as they can to process it,perhaps there would be less competition around if they had to pay a realistic amount for us to do their b****y work! :mad :mad

Perhaps it`s just a "nasty"rumour going around then? :d'oh! As you say the CWU would surely have jumped up and down and shouted a lot!
It would be SOOO.. GOOD If it was in some way true. but I suppose they are too devious to be caught that easily. If there is any element of truth in that AL or AC have "interests" in rival companies it would too convoluted and twisted to track.(Shame though!)
