Try telling your work mates that with Royal Mail wanting only thirty Mail Centres in the country, your office could be one of those to shut, with compulsory redundency thrown in.dvbuk55 wrote:Well it was a bit premature brothermagrew, but you are right. How would you proceed in the circumstances when there are so many part timers and so many who are no longer in the union, when the distrust of the union is almost as great as the distrust for RM?
Don't tell Rocky...........mind you it hasn't yet come to a national ballot but I rejoined anyway just in case:wave

Re: London Dispute Update
It wouldn't do any good me telling them our office might close, it's a delivery office, purpose built 10 years ago and neither of the MCs in this area are scheduled to close but if they do I'm sure there will be just as much support as there was for those in the NE, NW and the Midlands, don't you think?barbario wrote:Try telling your work mates that with Royal Mail wanting only thirty Mail Centres in the country, your office could be one of those to shut, with compulsory redundency thrown in.dvbuk55 wrote:Well it was a bit premature brothermagrew, but you are right. Re: London Dispute Update
Some people have short memories , all the offices who were in the North North West mail centre review balloted for strike action and the results were a mixed bag , some no votes , some yes. There was a call for a national dispute. However in the end a solution was reached.
In the Midlands Covertry and Milton Keynes got a yes Vote. Oxford got a yes vote and Reading got a yes Vote.
So it does happen.

I'm sure they'll find a solution to the London people issues too.dingo wrote:Some people have short memories , all the offices who were in the North North West mail centre review balloted for strike action and the results were a mixed bag , some no votes , some yes. Re: London Dispute Update
The only soultion they have for the London mail centre problems is one similar to what happened to the escaped prisoners in the lorry in the film the Great Escape.
There numbers otherwise do not add up and they have not got anywhere near the numbers they needed to go on VR or to HWDC.

I was given a branch circular today, updating us on the current situation. So good old Gerry O'Rourke, "The Invisible Man" still yet to attend a meeting?dingo wrote:The only soultion they have for the London mail centre problems is one similar to what happened to the escaped prisoners in the lorry in the film the Great Escape.

This is true , he has yet to be seen at a meeting to resolve the issues but likes his name on a letter dropping on our members door mats.thelastpostie wrote:I was given a branch circular today, updating us on the current situation. Is the Great Escape when the coach is balanced on the cliff and if they try and get the gold it will overbalance?
I don't see the connection.
I don't see the connection.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

No, that's the wrong film, it's the one where the Americans win the Battle of Britain with their F14's and Tom Cruiseclashcityrocker wrote:Is the Great Escape when the coach is balanced on the cliff and if they try and get the gold it will overbalance?

Re: London Dispute Update
A Joint statement has been reached which stops Royal Mail from moving any further work and allows for a two week period to find a resolution.
