totally agree. i spent 8 very long months without a job, 2 months without dole money as the feckers stopped it and no help in housing as my partner has a job so we had to try an live on one wage paying everything as well as two boys to feed. when i was offered a job on a shitty 20 hour contract i had no choice but to take it on. i also like to have a bit of a life outside of this total crap job so i have no choice but to work over....do you still think i should stick to working my time..?, Royal Mail have us over a barrel im afraid.DGP1 wrote:Now now LL, sometimes you take what is out there and hope to get something better in the future.Lounge Lizard wrote:Why accept a Part Time Contract if you need a Full Time job to pay the mortgage ?spen wrote:FINISH AT YOUR CONTRACTED HOURS,, im guessing your a full timer n not a 20 hour part timer who relies on an hour or 2 overtime every day just to pay the mortgage

Hopelessly idealistic. You'll never alter how people want to do the job. It'll all be part time soon, so why start making up ideas now. RM is doomed.comeracing wrote:we all have to stick together through this mess
firstly DO NOT GO INTO WORK BEFORE YOUR START TIME.
secondly FINISH TO YOUR CONTRACTED HOURS.
if all staff followed these two steps, our job would be so much easier.
come on you weak staff out there show some guts and bloody stick together.

After out Revision we'll have a 50/50 split Boogeymen. I've often wondered whose meant to be monitoring this "National Average" of 75% FT 25% PT!
I expect it's a case of Statistics, Statistics & Damn Lies!
Would you expect anything less from Royal fail? Surely the CWU should be monitoring this? Don't think they give a Damn either!

You're obviously one of the DOs that's slewing the statistics Stormproof. How the hell can you get away with only having 3 PTers in an office that size?Stormproof wrote:Out of 100+ in my office we've 3 part timers and one of those was a buy down.

Re: 2 THINGS ALL DELIVERY ROYAL MAIL STAFF SHOULD DO.
It was all my eye and Betty Martin this "protecting full time jobs", 75/25 national average, now what feckin good is that? Absolutely FA to offices which had already gone to revisions previously and used PT and buy down UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE CWU to actually keep jobs at all never mind full time. The sad fact is the workload for delivery offices has not decreased but increased. It may well be that some of the work has been transferred to DOs from MCs with the introduction of CSS machines and no doubt DSA has had an impact on MCs too and they are going to have to look at alternatives to get the balance right or suffer the consequences.

The 75%/25% is a national figure, not per office.Dorset Plodder wrote:You're obviously one of the DOs that's slewing the statistics Stormproof. That's the problem with the whole thing though.Stormproof wrote:The 75%/25% is a national figure, not per office.Dorset Plodder wrote:You're obviously one of the DOs that's slewing the statistics Stormproof. The national split at the time of the agreement was around 79/21 and the national target is 75/25 so how do offices with 50/50 improve their ratio if we continue to have offices with 97/3?
You don't have to be Stephen Hawking to understand that the maths doesn't work unless your office ratio goes way,way down or the 50/50 office takes another hit.
What we can't have is a union continuing to shout about "protecting full-time jobs" but only in certain areas or offices..
It is a national figure but the policy of protecting and promoting full-time working is supposed to be in every office and every area.
Not a dig at you BTW storm....
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We used to have our fair share of P/Timers in the office, then SDD came in and all the P/Timers were made up to F/Time. I don't know why our % is higher.

Believe it or not, we didn't have more than a couple of PT when SDD came in and so we lost some staff at that time. We are in an area that has had masses of growth in the last few years and I am talking thousands of homes and hundreds of businesses. When recruitment started they were all part time and that has been the trend ever since. Now how is the CWU protecting full time jobs when that part time recruitment was allowed to continue even though the ratio was 60/40? That isn't protection it's capitulation.
