How will "longer delivery spans" fit in with a 24 hour contact (i.e. 4hrs 48 minutes per day) when you take into account bagging up, meal relief and pouching off etc.

That depends if you are prepared to move to a 3 day week(i.e 8hrs per day).

That's how our office 24 hour guys/gals went but ended up doing Thu/Fri/Sat - just another harsh choice.

That is a topic that came to light today. I wasn't aware that the part timers made up to full timei on the revision are on temporary 40 hour contracts and not substantive, despite the fact that our office has recruited 18 part timers since January. That should surely be cause for the union to become involved or not?

Of course it should, but as this is the CWU we are talking about....they won't.

Ours too but we got them on a Thur/Fri/Sat/Mon rotational day off giving them 1 in 4 Saturdays off.

62 CATEGORY A: If Carried 63 Falls

That this Conference agrees that sick pay in Royal Mail is a contractual right. Therefore Conference agrees that it is an absolute disgrace that Royal Mail is deliberately withdrawing this right from certain members in order to bully these members back to work.

This Conference therefore agrees that the Union will do everything in its power to bring this practice to an end and to ensure that any member entitled to have sick pay will receive it.

The Postal Executive is instructed accordingly.

Actually that sounds fairer, but was never suggested or more likely never thought of in the limited time we had to organise and complete ready for the start date. Six months down the line we still haven't had the review, not unknown of course, but the planner is back in, the Rep is on a break and we have no sub rep and the review is coupled with the WSM revision, which does make sense in a way.

Does that mean they get a long weekend ft?
