Question --- Because all rounds are effectively all moved forward 1 hour and therefore all duties having the same changes, does that call for an office repick?

because everyone is changed the same

Is that SA for collections? With the later start times and no absolute last collection time these will be a fast disappearing overtime option.

There are moves afoot in this area to create a collection hub. I don't know any of the details but they are talking of making just one office the centre of a collection service across say in our case about five offices.

Well yeah, cause it's more than a 3rd that have technically changed, but this whole thing seems to be a grey area, any reps know anything?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The 3rd change is normal, but that is to stop any unfairness(sic) in the office and that no one gets any advantage. If all that happens is all rounds are changed 1 hour no extra advantage is had by anyone, IN THEORY :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm

That's true in theory but lets for arguments sake say that there are quite number of part time duties of 25 hours - the one hour per day would represent a 20% difference and should trigger a repick.

Apart from the start times though there is the consequence of geo route changes which in most cases, unless the original review for SDD was extremely accurate, is going to affect most offices. Apart from the disruption a re pick takes form a management point of view - ie new opals, training, strike breakers having to move duties it would be just another reason to show muscle to the managers - i.e. cwu members want a re-pick - so you accommodate it!!!!

had a chat with our rep today and i have been informed as in another post due to all duties being moved 1hour there should be no dis-advantage or advantage to anyone, hence unless you have a vote in favour of a re pick then there automatically shouldn't be one as no content has been changed only the times, and this affects everyone so by changing job you would really have nothing to lose or gain

Obviously it's horses for courses and in such a small office a re-pick would probably be a pointless exercise - our office has 160 staff and many part timers - upwards I would say of 40 - and there's the rub. The Manager has had a tendency to put part timers on what was formerly a full time duty and we have consequently lost hours since 31/3/07 which means there has been no financial gain to the membership. There has also been a disproportionate amount of overtime given to certain part timers who have become arse licking lackeys as a consequence - coming in 2 hours early without pay just so they can finish early and scoop up the overtime. Our full time rep is away and the sub rep is useless - he wouldn't know a management scam if it bit him in the arse.

Apart from the changes thoough there used to be provision for a repick after two years if the membership wanted it.

WAY FORWARD says......

Post by deadbox »

Single Daily Delivery

Saturday attendances will be significantly shorter than weekday attendances. To assist this Mailsort 3 need not be scheduled for delivery and missort runs should be rescheduled to enable an earlier start on town residential delivery routes.

The new delivery specification will provide delivery offices with the opportunity to tailor and agree start times to meet employee and customer requirements. Delivery employees can commence their delivery when all due mail has connected.

In the event that future changes to indoor workload and arrival patterns signal a need to review start times for operational reasons this will trigger a national review of shift payment criteria at the request of either party

Way Forward – Major Change

Major change is defined as:

the relocation or merger of units
a significant process alteration arising from automated working or reshaping of the pipeline
delivery revisions, which involve significant replotting of walks or significant restructuring of attendance patterns (e.g. full-time/part-time mix, five- day weeks, ‘longs and shorts’ or ‘night plus a first delivery’, where they are agreed)

For a reselection exercise to be considered the extent of such a change must be that it has a significant impact (in content and/or attendance times) on over 1/3 of the jobs in the unit.

CHANGE CRITERIA

The following criteria should be applied to determine which duties have been significantly changed and are proper to be included in the re-sign: the duty/work content has changed by at least 25% e.g. from Mech. to manual or vice versa, the duty has changed from indoor work to outdoor work or vice versa (staff employed on loading bay/platform duties will be classed as outdoor) .the shift or skill allowance applicable to a duty has changed, either up or down. There has been a change in the duty holder's opportunity to sign for Scheduled Attendance, e.g. change in driving content to over four hours. the attendance start or finish time has changed by 30 minutes or more. So that the duty holder's personal or domestic circumstances prevent them from attending at the new time or finishing at the new time-.new duties should also be added to those identified as significantly changed, when considering whether there has been a third of the total duties affected
