rumours that the Royal Mail delivery office in Belper is to close have been quashed.

The Royal Mail has sought to reassure locals that the depot on Goods Road is to remain open.

This was after strong whispers persisted that the operation was to be moved to Derby as part of cost-cutting measures, including from one member of staff who contacted the News.

However, a Royal Mail spokesman told the News this week: “Faced with full competition and declining mail volumes, Royal Mail operates in an environment of continuous improvement as we constantly review the efficiency of all our units.

“However there are no current plans to close Belper delivery office.”

But can we trust a Royal Mail Spokesperson? :hmmmm
I hope it does stay open, and I've no information to the contrary. But they're far from trustworthy.
