Re: i,ve been charged with gross misconduct under the health
if memory serves me the number is normally in/on the van defect book and there is a number for "postal control" or a brakdown line in your drivers manual...barneyrotts wrote:i have never been told where a phone number is to contact in emergency or what to do if you have a blowout.
although most of the guys i worked with stored the number in their own mobiles as it wasnt uncommon for the PHG to have locked the defect book up at the end of his shift.. or not to return it the follwing morning
iirc the correct process is (or was) contact your DOM (if you can get hold of the lazy tw*t) to see if another van can be brought to you for you to complete your duty while another worker waits until the van is recovered and then call postal control/breakdown line or the AA or RAC if your office/area operates that way for wheel changes etc

Gross Misconduct, what a load of codswallop!
What you did was technically commit a criminal offence and possibly breach the Health and Safety at Work Act.
The offences:
If you believe your Employer has not provided you with the appropriate training in this instance then you have no reason to be intimidated by their threat to discipline you.

What a bloody pain though, all this stress for a poxy £40 tyre
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

It's not about the cost of the tyre though is it.krussel wrote:I would like to also wish you the best luck (not that you should need it) and hope they see sense.barneyrotts wrote:my hearing is next tuesday and i would like to say thank you for all your comments, much appreciated.

However slow you drive, and too slow is just as dangerous, driving with a shredded tyre and damaged wheel means you do not have control of a ton of steel.
I think some here are missing the point entirely.

Bollocks, it works on them all, you can only dial 3 or so numbers, the 0800 one that you type your office I'd into to call your office, the RAC and emergency servicesSexyLegs wrote:The phone part of the PDA doesn't work, certainly not on any of the PDA's I've ever used, no PDA phone amd no mobile, what the hell was he supposed to do?

But only if you've either been trained in it's use (or have the time to work it out yourself), I don't know how to use either the phone or the sat nav on my PDA because I've never been showed.zx135 wrote:Bollocks, it works on them all, you can only dial 3 or so numbers, the 0800 one that you type your office I'd into to call your office, the RAC and emergency servicesSexyLegs wrote:The phone part of the PDA doesn't work, certainly not on any of the PDA's I've ever used, no PDA phone amd no mobile, what the hell was he supposed to do?
