Re: WTL
This just proves my point on how vague WTL is, nobody seems to know anything, I asked my union steward and he does not know and is going to get back to me so I will keep you posted but while all this goes on I am told managers are getting a bonusblue1873 wrote:Anyone got any idea of how many staff
are supposed to attend WTLL meetings
at the one time
or indeed is there a limit as to how many

Just proves my point and when you think that union reps view this thread where is the person who will ever tell us if we can have a 30 mins WTL.blue1873 wrote:Thanks folks for your replies, was told myself a while back that thewalkthewalk wrote:This just proves my point on how vague WTL is, nobody seems to know anything, I asked my union steward and he does not know and is going to get back to me so I will keep you posted but while all this goes on I am told managers are getting a bonusblue1873 wrote:Anyone got any idea of how many staff

Re: WTL
Update is that we will have a 318 for when P + L comes in our office and 30 mins are allocated in that and I will be taking every minute of the 30 minskrussel wrote:Welcome "Walk" to the nut house![]()
It used to be that WTL was on a Tues when the mail was lighter and could last half an hour and you had a chance to ask questions. If they showed you a dvd then at our place half the posties would leave the ips and then swap over. When lapsing/absorbtion came in that golden tues was lost and our WTL became a quick chat around the packet bags where upon the manager would just read out an email or two from the SOM.
However now we have had our revision there is NO CHANCE to stop for an hour and the manager simple walks around reading something out whilst we prep our frames. Half the time we cant hear him![]()
So it would seem the time put aside for so called "learning" has gone. I dont know if its still on a 318 but tbh we have never followed those much anyway.

Re: WTL
I've seen our New 318s and WTLL is indeed factored into them. Don't know if the DIM or the Runners are going to pay any attention to the timings but it will be interesting to find out...They've even included the PT staff!
Hoping there will be a few points along the lines of.."If you idiots are prepping my duty how's about..sensible sized bundles... no I don't usually deliver 3 streets in one bundle...yes I know it's quicker for you to pull out.....some indication on where the parcels you've stuffed on the top are meant to be delivered....no that really should be TWO bags not one MEGA BAG! etc" Normaly everyone's disappeared by the time the PT Staff turn up, and there's no-one to complain to when they get back because they've all gone home!

Kin Hell - why don't people treat others the same way as they want to be. Perhaps for 1 day PTimers should come in and prep a FTimers to get their own back.Dorset Plodder wrote:I've seen our New 318s and WTLL is indeed factored into them. Re: WTL
is it rite that the wtl is built into your hours? partimers at our office are told to come in 1/2 early on a tuesday, wtl lasts around 5 mins. they then have to get walks thrown out and out doing apart of another walk before taking their own.
i was in office today and heard a manager tell a partimer no pro-del could be booked but he could come in later tomorrow ( thats banking hours which i'm led to beleive can not be done. ( anyone with any answers ? )
some workers in our office are flexing 3 or 4 times a week and some are doing none, surely this ain't rite? from a union point of view where would i stand if i refused to do it.

Each Delivery Employee must have a weekly 30-minute WTL session as a national standard. This must be included when planning duties. The majority of Delivery Offices currently hold their WTL sessions on days when traffic volumes are traditionally lighter. In most cases this is currently Tuesday. However, in larger offices, the number of sessions needed to be held in order to fulfil the weekly requirement of one 30-minute session per employee results in sessions needing to be held on the other days of the week
Banking hours is not agreed but like everything if a manager asks you if you want to and a member says yes there is little the union can do.
Flexibility...
Enabler - Variation of hours - Where necessary, for example when traffic volumes are unexpectedly high or resourcing issues arise, individuals may be asked and may themselves request to vary their duty times by up to 30 minutes on a swings androundabouts basis. Again, individual circumstances will be taken into account and
total weekly contractual hours would not change.
Considerations and Suggested Activities
Traffic forecasts and any anticipated variations will be shared and reviewed at weekly resourcing meetings. A
process should be agreed to deal with unforeseen fluctuations in traffic and/or resourcing issues. This process
should also include how a Manager or an employee should request a variation of hours should this be necessary
and how reciprocal recovery of the time will take place within the individuals working week. Any variations should
be logged and reviewed at the weekly resourcing meeting
Variation of hours process established and agreed.
Regular monitoring should take place at the weekly resourcing meeting to ensure arrangements are fair,
robust and no individual is asked/requested to flex too frequently.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

WTL is a 2 way street,it is a time for US to ask questions as well and not just listen to their s**t.Royal_Fail wrote:We are supposedly working the new 318's there is 30 minutes on Tuesday but we haven't had wtl since revision and the manager says they are more of rough guide anyway thats the excuse he uses to keep us on ips.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
