It is a surprisingly low turnout on such a major issue.Danelectro wrote:nobody wants VR but only 52% voted in the ballot![]()

Re: London votes for strike action
so the mail centres vote for strike action in london,so what happens to the sub-offices
do we just carry on working, managers will bring our work up then what happens.
if we walk-out the strike will then become unoffical.
it is time our union starts telling its members what the f**k is going on.

Re: London votes for strike action
So what will happen.... posties will go on strike for numerous single days here and there losing £100s even £1000s
Mysteriously thousands of pounds will end up in Hayes and Wards bank accounts and all of a sudden Hayes will say "Well we have to do as RM management want as they rightly say mail figues are dropping and we all have to make cuts and do more work so lets end these strikes.... Right I'm off to the pie shop I think we need to celebrate don't you Dave!"

Re: London votes for strike action
Steven100,My understanding is when it all kicks off,all CWU branches are going to be told not to touch Londons Mail by the union at national level. This is all sliding towards a national dispute. For people who worked in Mail Ccentres already closed, what were your divisonal reps doing, did they try to fight it.Its the London divisonal reps banging the drum in London for industrial action, not the national union. In London in the past we have always gone out on strike to support union members in other parts of the country when we were asked to.I can't actually remember anybody asking us to support Mail Centres in the North East and West that were in danger of closing in the last couple of years, otherwise i think we would have done.So lads ,blame your own divisional reps,if you don't ask,you don't get.

Re: London votes for strike action
The problem the last time was different areas/sections being balloted for different days. We need one vote (nationally) for the same days strike. The last time RM must have been pissing themselves because the workforce was divided and it didn't have the blanket affect.

Re: London votes for strike action
If a strike does go ahead I hope it is for a sequence of at least three consecutive days, as sporadic single days of industrial action over the space of several weeks are hardly likely to result in anything positive for the protesters when it will be too easy to catch up with the backlog.
However, at a time of many families being on very tight budgets, losing a day's pay through industrial action is going to really hurt...
