Re: CWU Letter to all London delivery members
I will strike for better conditions and a wage rise in line with inflation.
I will not strike to hold Royal Mail to a deal that does me, or my colleagues, no favours whatsoever.
And as for phantom shares, don't even go there.

MCs have been closed across the country with travelling distances greater than the 15 miles stated in the letter. Many took VR but would have preferred to keep their jobs but couldn't handle the travelling or transfer to deliveries. Mail arriving later at DOs has been a fact of life for more than two years and 40% of mail arriving later is the here and now, especially with CSS mail. Part time staff of 40,50,60% in deliveries is on the increase where many offices have already had DM revisions and WM revisions and in fact part time staff ARE working every Saturday already. Staffing levels are at the minimum to carry out the work and often too little staff.
Now if those who already have faced the changes and been largely ignored were to vote YES to industrial action how would it affect their future in RM?
Would MCs reopen, would we go back to a reasonable workload, would the plight of those outside London be finally recognised. Not to put too fine on a point on it or be mercenary in the extreme BUT what's in it for us?
If it did come to hey lads hey, would the full time released union bods be prepared to give up that right in order to have a negotiated settlement and in line with the reorganisation called for in the previous agreement?

Re: CWU Letter to all London delivery members
Why does everyone seem to go along with this "ONLY BECAUSE ITS LONDON" Shite?....
Does everyone forget that london has already gone through major change?
London has lost quite a few MC's over the years with no calls to industrial action at all, or do you care to forget that little point?
Have a look at the MC's already closed...
King Edward Building (people and work moved with no arguments)
Paddington (people and work moved with no arguments)
North London (people and work moved with no arguments)
East London (people and work moved with no arguments)
This is not about office closures, the union has already agreed on that point on our behalf, but its down to how this is being managed.
Its been proved countless times the current management couldnt run a piss up in a proverbial, and here we go again...
The vicious cycle continues because management in its wisdom has decided to ignore agreements, and do excactly what it likes.
The headline issue of London Mail center closures may not seem to be a local delivery office issue, or even national for that matter, But ignore the issue at everyones peril.
I repeat its not about the closures, its about how this is managed in the best interests of CWU members everywhere.

Re: CWU Letter to all London delivery members
Really? Then why has it become such an issue now? This agreement was pimped by the CWU with a management that was acknowledged as lacking in any honour when it came to agreements. I might add that before the 2009 agreement we had already gone into revisions, including park and loop and voted to strike to supposedly put an end to the bullying, harrassment, unrealistic start times, unrealistic workloads etc., but what we ended up with was more of the same. We, like many others, have gone through delivery methods and CSS, our PT/FT ratio is 50/50 so much for a national figure of 75/25 what good is that to us? The changes have been and gone...................now not to belabour a point but what would IA give us? So is this for CWU members everywhere?MrGoose wrote:I repeat its not about the closures, its about how this is managed in the best interests of CWU members everywhere.

It's a pity as the title to this thread suggests that more London members dont respond to this topic and give a true and honest way to how they are feeling.......IMHO
