Re: lapsing
no such thing as double lapsing. all it means is your doing twice as many houses doesnt make it double that would be like doing it before you go out in delivery and after your delivery

Re: lapsing
Well today we also had our cover lino trying to convince us to do summer lapsing. So the plan was normal lapsing monday and tuesday and then lapsing every other day for the other 4 days of the week. First day of the every other day lapsing and no one would take it out without OT!
Not looking forward to next week though as our normal manager will probably bully everyone into going along with it.

I'll ask again

Those that are are on about lapsing in this thread. Have you already done your revision?
The same rules applies to the workers. They could not justly be blamed for not doing good work - there was no incentive, because all of those who are capable of doing good work find pleasure and happiness in doing it and have pride in it when done : but there was no incentive, unless the certainty of getting the sack was an incentive, for it was a morale certainty that any man who was caught taking time and pains in their work would be promptly presented with the order of the boot.

Re: lapsing
we've been thru the revision but there's talk of lapsing, most of us believe there shouldn't be any lapsing cause of revision. Sure we were told before revision, that once it came in no more lapsing!! is this right, any link for the agreement?RTP wrote:I'll ask againRTP wrote:Question....

1.) Operational questions
Q. How will lapsing and absorption work?
A. The system will remain the same as now, with DOMs identifying spare capacity with their teams and the union rep. Shared Van deliveries will provide a more structured approach to work with. Typically, the DOM will identify a walk or number of shared van walks close to the office that other shared vans will pass through or near.
Shared van walks are split into a number of loops, and each shared van capacity will take an additional loop to deliver. As the loops are planned they will have a known and equal time. Shared van delivery frames should identify and order these loops.

I am quite frankly surprised that people believed this flannel at my DO, and even more surprised that posties all over the country bought it as well.WildSandwich wrote: we've been thru the revision but there's talk of lapsing, most of us believe there shouldn't be any lapsing cause of revision. Managers are using the "you wont have to lapse" to get their revisions in as fast as possible, but this carrot does not exist and will never exist. In the P&M07 agreement there is a clause that says "Work all paid hours" that one line means that if they think you have the capacity to lapse they will try to make sure you do, and if you run round, cut corners etc to finish early then you have capacity.
Lapsing will never stop completely until people stop chasing early finishes, in fact in my estimation lapsing will never ever completely disappear managers see it as a cheap way of getting overtime/work done. My best advice would be to always know your rights, always work to your time or claim overtime if you can and WANT to.
Edit - Thanks to fishtank

In our office the dom declared double lapsing was on the horizon , quieter time of year and all that.
No chance!
The so called "quiet" time hasn't showed we are as busy as ever !
we are skeptical but we all heard the dom use the phrase.
it only gets done by everybody in the office on a Monday and Tuesday a few do it all week but they are the golden children
with the blessed rounds.
and of course the office flyer who who starts way early for free
so he can be first back...
and grab any "cutting off" or "stuff left in" overtime the dom has going.
Every office has one. or so im told!

If someone does the job correctly and never gets back early , can he be disciplined for not being able to lapse ?
