CONCERNED residents in Thorpe Bay have demanded action after their post started to arrive in the evening.
Mark and Sandra Donovan, of Thorpe Hall Avenue, have suffered because mail is coming later and later each day – with some deliveries not being made until 6pm and beyond.
Royal Mail bosses have apologised and promised to improve to the service.
However, Mr Donovan, 49, said: “This is affecting a large part of Thorpe Bay. We don’t mind getting our post late in the morning, but the end of the day is madness.
“It needs someone to do something about it now.”
Mr Donovan said the deliveries used to be between 8am and 11am, without fail.
He added: “For the past month we have not had our post until at least 6pm.
“We have been told the postmen and women have been made to take on much bigger rounds and cannot deliver all their post in the alloted time in the morning.
“So the post goes back to the sorting office and then it gets redelivered later in the day by another post person on an overtime rate.
“I am worried if this carries on it will get even worse.”
A spokeswoman for Royal Mail accepted there had been problems, but urged customers to bear with them.
She said: “Royal Mail has implemented changes to delivery rounds in Thorpe Bay as part of its modernisation programme.
“There has been some disruption to service while postmen and local managers make final adjustments to the changes.
“We are working to resolve the issues as a matter of priority. We apologise to any customer who has experienced disruption.”

Typical story, one of many unfortunately. This modernisation seems to have destroyed the service with no savings to be made anywhere, just aditional costs.
Can't wait to see how much bonus the executives pay themselves for this shambless, last failure they were rewarded with over £10 million between them weren't they?

totally agree with you, our office has had the so called modernization in place, and it's costing ROYAL MAIL a fortune to try and keep it running,,, the office is a shambles,, i'm just wondering how long ROYAL MAIL can keep up the vast increase of cost to our office, before it declares itself broke,,, ROYAL MAIL senior managers have only themselves to blame for this disasterous modernization fiasco..Judgee wrote:Typical story, one of many unfortunately. "We don’t mind getting our post late in the morning"
Mmmm someones getting a little optimistic ,especially considering the way Royal Fail is heading.I'd say,on average, the majority of my customers now receive their mail in the afternoon .
