Royal Mail's group director of PR is understood to have handed in his notice with no job to go to, as he reaches the end of a mammoth trawl for a PR roster.

Richard Stephenson: quits Royal Mail
Richard Stephenson is believed to be leaving Royal Mail within the next month, with an immediate plan to take some time out. He is understood to have a number of future roles under consideration.

Stephenson was formerly a board director and head of financial services at Smithfield and has held senior comms positions within the Conservative Party.

Sources suggested he was planning to make a return to political comms, following a short break.

The news comes as Stephenson oversees the final pitch stage of the roster appointment process, which started last April.

Agencies that have pitched this week include M&C Saatchi, Lansons, Fishburn Hedges, FD, Weber Shandwick, Eulogy, Citigate, Euro RSCG and Paratus.

Agencies are fighting it out for four spaces on the roster. The final roster is expected to be decided by the end of the week.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Can I have his old job then?

I've been practising...."We're experiencing a few teething problems"......"modernisation"........."bull**** bull**** bull****".........."We want our people to feel valued (about the same as the colleague shares actually)"

Go on Moya, give me the job. My aunties uncle's sisters, neighbours dog walker posted a letter once, so I'm more than qualified.

Aren't they just going to lapse his duty?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

In a final statement he could have declared that " although in transition and possibly career challenged
I am embarking on a journey of self discovery and relishing my new role
as a job market researcher".
