Its a pity we cant fund the Labour Party but stipulate we dont want any of it going to or assisting the Liebour Government (spelling error intentional). But as you cant separate the 2 it is a forlorn wish.

Money should go on those CLP'S AND BLP'S in the labour party that do support union involement and socalism.

How many CWU members are members of the labour party? Not many! Cant influence from the sidelines, join the party get involved at local level and help make policy. CWU/affilated unions are entitled to send a delgate to every CLP in the land and delegates have full voting rights and can put forward motions etc.

We need to take control at the grassroots and build up with our comrades from other unions to take control of the labour party.

Unless GB gets substantial pressure from his CLP'S and BLP's then you wont see much change in policy.

If union members/activists become individual members of the labour party then is dosent matter what changes are made to union influence as individual members can not be stopped from proposing and voting on motions that are socalist and union friendly.

No offence, but there have been many socialists who have joined the Labour Party and still the Labour Party marches further to the right. In fact, every time a socialist rears his or her head, they get thrown out of the Labour Party. The reason the SWP, IMG and SP exist is because they were all thrown out of the Labour Party for being socialists. The same goes for Ken Coates the MEP. Here is a political party which a whole host of priveledged former public schoolboys from Atlee to Blair have felt at home in, so it's no real wonder it has no real interest in the working class, and I'm pleased to say the working class has less and less interest in it.

I'd say your reflecting the views of hundreds of thousands of disillusioned working people with that posting. Labour is finished. If it wasn't, what possible comfort could the likes of Blair, Darling and Leighton find in holding membership cards, and why would big businessmen donate cash to it?

I was only saying to my husband the other day that I wished John Smith was still alive, we wouldn't be in this mess if he was in charge. He was a truly great man. I was gutted when he died & yes, I thought we had a chance when Tony Blair won the first election. Then I realised he was only in it for the fame & glory. I actually had high hopes for Gordon Brown in the first few weeks....that didn't last long! I won't be voting at all in the next election as I don't think there is a viable alternative to the Labour Party. Well, not unless there is a change in the Labour leadership. They will be hard put to find someone of the calibre of John Smith, though.

That's a snotty response !, the bit about commercial freedom was the one Patronizing Pat or Nurse Ratchet used , can't think why she got slow hand-clapped at the RCN Conference ?!
Too disingenuous , it's true the CWU have wanted Commercial Freedom since about the mid nineties but that's regarding services /marketing etc not the failed Tory Free-marketeers from Postcon version of it .

The other bit is we've set the attack dogs :lfo & :cfo on that unwashed rabble to do our "reforms " who orchestrate most of the disputes anyway. There's the trivial little matter of Liberalization that New Labour went galloping ahead with . There is a shift to the right with Brussels and Britain's deliberately conceded most of it's sovereignty.

Privatization through the back door , it was a crying shame about John Smith , a different breed from that rabble , a decent man , the last white hope . B-liar didn't wait long , little deal with Gordon Brown .Coining it in now is our Toniness.

B****y Middle Class Liberals !
