Criminal postal charges

Tens of thousands of criminals will be charged by getting a letter through the post.

The government says it will help cut police bureaucracy and partly free up 2.5 million hours of police time.

The Home Secretary says officers must get out from behind their desks and back on to the streets.

The move will target minor offences including theft

Bailed suspects will be sent formal charges through the post instead of being asked to attend police stations.

Theresa May said reforms were a watershed moment in policing and would help transfer power from the Government to the people.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

They used to send out speeding tickets by recorded over here but they stopped when people where denying they got them, I don't know who delivers them now. Anyway, they'll send them DSA or let those people who deliver the passports do them.

Suspects to be "charged" by post

Excerpt ...

"The move to charge thousands of people by a letter would see bailed suspects sent formal charges through the post, instead of being asked to attend police stations.

It is hoped this approach alone could save up to 40,000 police hours annually.

However, the home secretary said targets and guidance which are scrapped nationally should not be replaced by local versions in each of the 43 forces.

"It will be key for the reforms I have outlined to be carried through by individual forces and individual officers at the local level.

"The potential rewards for the police are enormous, but they must make them happen," Mrs May said."
