Remember that the opt-out from Royal Mail 'Door to Door' unaddressed junk mail only lasts for one year. If you registered when the issue suddenly entered public consciousness last August, it's approaching time to renew your registration.

[An unconfirmed source reports the Royal Mail as saying registration now lasts two years, but it's unclear whether that applies to registrations submitted in August 2006 or only those submitted more recently. I'm not inclined to risk it.
Besides, if the Royal Mail are swamped by thousands of redundant renewal letters, that's their problem.]

Got one on my delivery. Is there a specific number or even website that we can give to customers to give them the option of opting out?
I often have people on my walk complaining about the junk mail they get and I direct them to the website that lets you opt out of receiving said garbage.
So long as they solicit the advice and I don't force it on them I'm doing nothing other than telling them of a service they're entitled to.

The odd thing is when I was delivering people used to complain about the D2D and yet when they were at their front gate and I asked them if they wanted them they invariably said they did!

Even the CWU see them as an expanding market and therefore good for business - except of course they aren't the ones preparing and delivering them. I wonder how long it will be before someone like TNT will be jumping on the bandwagon and be dropping them off for us to deliver!!!!

I think you may find we already our delivering d2ds for TNT. Hard work to prove it though?Who else is going to deliver 500 d2ds 1.5p = £7.50p= 3 hrs work

I seen 6 people delivering leaflets in the cardiff area last friday (10/8/07) and they all had orange paper boy type delivery bags with TNT written on them! They were delivering 4 door to door leaflets, i was going to ask how much they were getting payed to deliver them but they look they belonged on that programme 'a league of gentlemen' they were really wierd looking so i just walked on by

My view has changed over the last year of D2D's.
I'll hold my hand up cause as a rest day cover and i don't have to do them but.........
As we're workin to our 318's at my place and i have to wait for the regulars who have to prep their 20% me AND them are out later than what we would be if they didn't do them.
So..........a few extra,whether they are bundled up or not means,extra money,extra prep,longer inside,less time out side,less chance of either,jobs going or walks made longer.
And we're workin 8hrs a day and not bothering about an early(Pratically impossibele to get anyway) finish as we don't get one and cut-offs are the norm,you work it out


Oh,and the business make a few extra spondoolies and the suits are too busy wanking over it to bother us.
Thats my Sat nite theory on it anyway

in our office we have a printed d2d sheet. it comes from the bookroom. i have noticed on others that all the opt outs are on the bottom. i don't have any worse luck. but if they are on there then i spose you don't deliver and if they are not on there stick the crap thru the door. you cannot get in trouble cos the higher boffins somewhere add these on to your walk not the stupid screw in the office.

I've two opt-outs on my walk. But, as POSTMAN said, anything that increases prep time INDOORS, giving me less time on delivery
OUTDOORS, is OK by me, especially with autumn/winter just round the corner.

Yes you are right i too have seen TNT out and about delivering leaflets near my walk as well.For the last 2 weeks i have only had 1 D2D for each week so they probably have been delivering on my walk too. I know they are a pain to do but at the end of the week when you get paid you do notice a difference in your pay when you don't get them.

Ahhhhhh Saturday night - bottle of vodka - some coke - make up 600 odd households. I know they start ok but I'm not quite sure if the end ok .

AFAIK total garbage - I prep them in their time and If I don't think I'll do them that week I tell my boss and don't claim the ones I don't do., AFAIK if you cant do them in duty time they have to arrange for it to be done seperately. However, now I am used to my walk its rare for me not to do it all OK. Mind you the walk log and the amount of D2Ds are different and the boss says he cant pay me more than what the D2D log says I should deliver so I only deliver that many.

IMO d2d should be welcomed by open arms by Royal Mail and all of us just as long as Dave and Bob can secure a decent agreement for us to prep and deliver them.
1. They will bring in much needed revenue
2. They could become a good money earner
3. They will add to our prep time and protect indoor work.

They may be a pain but we should get a good agreement with a increase every year and start to treat them like first class items.
Me for one would deliver upto 6 everyday as long as we get paid for that it could be a good way to secure more money.
I do know there are many that disagree and see d2d's as junk but a few years ago we had rebate but now its treated much differently.

thats ok you treat them as you want , until we get paid a decent rate for them as far as i'm concerned they ..are... junk ..
good earner for them yes but we are the losers in this and that must be rectified

Very true axeman, if they want D2Ds to be delieverd with a smile pay us what their worth and not the embarassing amount they pay us now......think iwent over the top with the smile bit.......
