Non Culpable Inefficiency

Post by Talell »

Has anyone heard of this procedure before?

Found it randomly whilst casually browsing the intranet, and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen that before.

Took a copy of everything I could find on it, if anyone is interested.

Not this piece of s**t rearing it's ugly head again....Play the game with them, do really s**t when tested, then with training and guidance, improve on your original test results off NCI procedure... :cuppa

Known about it , but never heared of it being used in our office in over 25 yrs. Think it will come more into play now the retirement age cap has been removed to shift some of the slow old timers out the door

Of course we are interested.
Post everything you can in the downloads section please.

This is interesting. Our DOM used this term a few weeks ago and I have been racking my brains trying to remember what she had said.

Basically, she told us that this NCI is agreed with the union and she will be taking people down the disciplinary route.

Any info on this will be good as we have the area rep coming to our office and I want to bring this up with him, along with other issues.

ive been doing a quick search apparently BT
were using this proceedure to demote people and to get them to leave a few years back.

typcally your ability no longer meets the needs of the buisness.

ie your to old to be shimmying up telegraph poles.
is it a form of sacking to avoid redundancy?

only finding quotes at the moment and forum posts sites like "the register"

MDEC Keyer, (2002 – 2004):

# Non-Culpable Inefficiency Project (March-July 2004): Assigned to develop a programme to support keyers who were failing the company’s standards. The programme is now a standard procedure.

The company has real issues with the withdrawal of the default retirement age.
The will no longer be able to refuse employment to someone over 65 on the grounds of age.
..but at the same time they are shitting themselves at the thought of older members of staff keeling over on delivery.
It used to be that they would find an easier job indoors or at the mail centre if life on the street got too strenous but that avenue is no longer open to them.
They are probably scrambling about pathetically looking for a get out clause....
It's cheaper than VR or IHR i suppose. :cuppa

But our DOM wants to use this procedure for throughput prep rate. Nobody is having major problems on their delivery due to age etc, although there is one guy who originally is from a far away country shall we say, and has been finding it difficult for ages to do his delivery due to his age and balance problems.
Now, I actually get on really well with him, but management are literally falling over themselves to help him and have created a re-hab walk just for him.
Ordinarily, you would think that it's a good idea and fair play to the management, but the truth is, is that they treat the rest of us with no compassion at all and this leads to bad feeling and this poor guy is not liked because of it.
Nobody goes out of their way to be nasty to him, but they moan like hell at what they see as preferential treatment.
I actually think that management haven't any real compassion with the guy, but they are scared to treat him like ###, as they do with the rest of us.

Now surely he actually would be a prime candidate for this NCI wouldn't he, but no she is only interested in people who do the job properly and cut off or book. She is trying everything to get those people out and that includes me.

It might not be that relevant but most DOM/DIMS complained about on here seem to be female. My appologies if I`m wrong.

The term Dim-Dom is a non gender specific term of endearment.
