Any Comments, anyone?
The village of Cavendish in Suffolk is up in arms today after it emerged the Royal Mail was only delivering to them once every other day, after losing one of its two regular posties six weeks ago. The revelation is in breach of the company's promise to deliver post six days a week and parcels five days.
At the moment Royal Mail is dismissing this as minor breach, but are we so sure?
A local problem
It argues that this is just a small local issue while they sort staffing problems - and they have promised to do so quickly. This in itself is a bit dodgy. After-all there's no shortage of local managers who could stand in for the postie while they recruit another one. Maybe this is just another time when the Royal Mail let us down because they don't want to get their hands dirty.
A bigger issue?
But I'm not entirely sure this is such a local issue. The regulator is investigating whether this sort of problem is more widespread. If it finds a major breach it could fine the company up to 10% of turnover - although it would have to be a pretty impressive breach for that kind of fine.
I can't be the only one with deep suspicions about Royal Mail. How can no-one in my block of flats (over 100 people) get no post at all for two days and then a massive deluge? Doesn't that seem just a bit fishy? Especially if it's happening every week?
Is there some sort of blind eye policy being applied, are posties themselves sitting on the mail while they enjoy the good weather, or is there something more serious underlying this - is it all about a workforce who have no interest at all in their failing employer or their suffering customers?
Complaints?
Here's hoping the watchdog unearths what lies at the heart of this problem. In the interim our only option is to complain, if you can find someone to complain to. Unfortunately this isn't foolproof. I launched a complaint a couple of years ago about post going missing after three cheques went awry on their way to my house. I just received a letter saying they had checked and there was nothing wrong with the service..... So clearly those cheques were just vanishing into thin air then.
But what do you think? Is this just a one off? Are these a few isolated incidents, or are you unimpressed with your postal service? Let us know in the comments.

Re: The Future?
yes same story in daily mail today, its a disgrace what this company is becoming, managers should pick up the slack when this sort of thing happens until someone is trained up, no lapsing it off, or hopeing someone will do it on overtime who has any spare time anymore what with crazy park and loop. They (management) seem determined to destroy the business from within, turn the public against us hard workers so it can be easily sold off cheap to TNT or whoever and management get a nice severence package, instead of working hard to restore royal mail to its former glory and the union seems to be in on it, shame on them all.

Re: The Future?
We're on a ship that has been steered towards uncharted sea's but others have gone there (Holland) and met their demise. It's as if the ships captain and senior crew don't know or care about where we are heading (Bermuda Triangle it seems). In the meantime we have been torpedoed, are taking in water and sinking and yet the daft idiots in charge still can't ot rather won't make any decisions!
Is it time to switch on the pumps or get into the life boats? Well some life boats have left the ship already and took the 'colleagues share payments' with them.
Even if we do manage to save the ship from going down, those idiots in charge of running can't see the 'PIRATES' that are waiting to board her and guess who will then be walking the plank?!

Re: The Future?
Thats mainly because the spivs in charge are the pirates, and they launched the torpedoes from a hidden compartment on the same ship, and they have probably had all this plotted out for years. No point in getting into the lifeboats they didn't put any oars in them. Dont worry though all the people that really matter have a helicopter on board and when the time comes they will abandon ship and move over to the brand new ship all dolled out in a new flag. Problem is that ship will be half manned, rotting in the holds and dependant on the professionalism of a poorly motivated and poorly paid workforce on less than minimum wage. Would you really buy into a business model of that nature unless getting the best profit margins possible, rather than providing a decent service to the general public was your main aim.Sharkeyes wrote:We're on a ship that has been steered towards uncharted sea's but others have gone there (Holland) and met their demise. Re: The Future?
Well initially on the revision last year it got to such a stage that only one of the two deliveries would go out on one day and the alternate one the next!!! Someone said that providing some of the delivery went then it wasn't a failure, so the mail for one delivery and all packets for both deliveries would go on day one and vice versa. Doesn't happen now of course things have improved.

Well, now that i've sobered up after yesterday's antics, this looks quite scary ...... and probably not a million miles from the truth.TrueBlueTerrier wrote: Thats mainly because the spivs in charge are the pirates, and they launched the torpedoes from a hidden compartment on the same ship, and they have probably had all this plotted out for years. Re: The Future?
Many of us have been predicting this for years,
but before i sound too smug ..
I thought days without delivery would be the result of deregulation/privatization .
maybe rm are just trialling it this area before roll-out.

Re: The Future?
How can the regulator fine them 10 % , we all know RM has not got any money ?
The chunk is right , offices all over the country are effectively delivering an every other day service. That managers appear to be doing this with impunity suggest this is with the knowledge of the regulator, or it is a paper tiger until its take over by offcom
