Re: 'one to one' with the manager interview
So how often are appraisals supposed to take place within the Royal Mail? It sounds to me as if management are only concerned with efficiency targets and the like and are disregarding a fair assessment of staff performance, which surely can't be good for the people who work there. Am I right in thinking that?

Ask your manager to provide a copy of the National Agreement with the CWU then! Sounds like another of their methods to circumvent the union. Notify CWU HQ immediately and ask for their advice.stevepostman wrote:According to our manager last night in our wtl session. we will have to each and everyone of us have a formal interview with a manager on a 'one to one' basis and be asked a number of questions.
Also said that this had been National Agreed with the CWU.
Does anyone know anything about?
thanks for all comments.

We don't have appraisals. What is going on in this thread is bollox.1 to 1 with management is a big no no for us.DUDEMEISTER wrote:So how often are appraisals supposed to take place within the Royal Mail? It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: 'one to one' with the manager interview
In every job I've ever had you have a one to one at least once a year where you can talk about your development, any problems etc. They weren't for the manager to tell you you're doing this that and the other wrong, it was a chance to have a sit down and chat about things you wanted to talk about.
Anything else would be covered by either a conduct interview or a pay review meeting which we don't really have here as we're on a national wage.
All the managers have one to one meetings, which they do discuss stuff that will probably affect us, so why not us?
I heard that we were meant to be having them too but as yet, they've not appeared. Besides, I pester my manager all the time anyway so I wouldn't really need a 121
