Payrise This Year?

Post by smok3y666 »

Anyone heard anything regarding a payrise this year? I asked my manager, she said it hasn't even been talked about yet.

That was for us in Letters - as far as I know PFWW have not had one yet.

We (HR Services) have only just got ours which was outstanding from last year and our first since 2007. A three year deal, nothing for the first year, worked out at about 1.5% each year for 3 years. Yet again the worst deal in Royal Mail. Oh, we do get a £1000 "bonus" if we reduced headcount by 25%, can't quite get my head around that one.

Not quite right about HR Services...

The pay deal is for HR Services and Finance Service and is for three years 2010-2013 and includes:

£1000 lump sum payable April 2011

£500 consolidated increase in basic pay from April 2011

further £500 consolidated increase in basic pay from April 2012

Second £1000 lump sum payable end October 2011 - This is payable to HR Services employees dependent on the successful completion of the first and second drops of PSP (the new HR/Payroll system).

For Finance Services this is paid on acheivement of a 25% template reduction.

In % terms the deal gives basic pay rises of between 4.76% and 6.25% (dependent on pay scale) - plus £2000 in lump sums.

Not quite right, why isn't it? We didn't get a pay rise in 2010. We've got a £500 increase this year and £500 next year.

Don't believe the 4.76% "consolidated" figure, that is completely meaningless.

That equates to 0% in year one, 2.38 % in year 2 and 2.33% in year 2. In effect this works out at just over 1.5% per year.

The 25% reduction also applies to HR Services - at least that is what we are being told.

Certainly looks like the worst deal in RM. Our managers got 2.2% last year and we got nothing.

Certainly looks like the worst deal in RM. :hmmmm
In deliveries we got....1.4% in 2008,0% in 2009,2% in 2010 and 1.5% in 2011

4.9% over 4 years or 1.225% per year...beats your huge 1.5%. :left:
To be fair they have promised us 3.5% for next year but then they also promised us colleagueshares.

Couple of comments:

I didn't say it was the best deal, I just corrected your original information.

You're forgetting the £2000 lump sums the first of which easily covers any pay rise for 2010

No one in RM got a pay rise in 2099.

I have it on the best authority that the HR Services lump sum is NOT dependent on a 25% cut.

Finally - if it was such a bad deal why did nearly every one who voted say Yes?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Based on those four I think we can be that:

2008: 0%
2009: 0% - nobody got a payrise so that's fair enough
2010: 0%
2011: 2.38%

so that's less than your 1.225%. Believe me, we always get the worst deal.

Nothing to correct.

Oh come on, lump sums mean bugger all in the long-term. If we'd have received a £500 pay rise in 2010 then after 3 years that would be worth £1500, after ten years it would be £5000. It would also be pensionable, affect redundancy payments etc. The real reason they don't want to give an equivalent deal is because they don't want to increase their redundancy payouts.

The 2nd £1000 is NOT guaranteed and is similar to £1000 lump sum offered for revisions across the business. Bearing in mind that 25% of staff won't be here to receive it, do you consider that a pay rise?
vanman wrote: No one in RM got a pay rise in 2099.
I didn't mention 2009.

vanman wrote: I have it on the best authority that the HR Services lump sum is NOT dependent on a 25% cut.
I really hope you're right. Who is your authority? Our director and the union don't seem to be under this impression
vanman wrote: Finally - if it was such a bad deal why did nearly every one who voted say Yes?
Largely, because the union strongly recommended and misled people into voting yes. The union quoted the nonsensical figure 4.76% which is blatant misinformation. Banks would not be allowed to quote such ridiculous figures. The union also failed to mention the conditions for the 2nd lump sum.

We only have a small number of members, so the union probably wanted to wash their hands of it by getting us to accept it.

People were fed-up of waiting for the deal, we have been waiting over a year for it. We have accepted that there is a good chance of losing our jobs soon, so people are in the mindset that getting £1000 now is probably the best they are going to get. RM know that, that's the way they operate now, making us grateful that we have a job and constantly telling us we are overpaid and underworked. Our director's motto is "Fit in or f**k off".

Perhaps if there were a few more of your colleagues who joined the Union you would get a better deal and your Director's motto may have to change.

Good deal or bad - without a higher membership level nothing is likely to change much is it?

parcel force are still in negotiation besides having lost £7,00 a week from april ,
basically we are at this moment being shafted, the union isnt happy at all and if we dont get what was promised a ballott for industrial action will take place,

we have heard that Rm will probably use the£7 pw we lost add a £1 and call it an £8.00 a week pay rise, so we gain a £1.00 pw. not gonna happen
