No DR's in Royal Mail!

I am writing in response to your email on the 15/02/2011. We have considered your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In your email you requested the following:

“….could you please provide the number of frontline managers in delivery and processing within Royal Mail Letters who have had medical training to a level that they can ascertain the health of an employee and give advice as to what work the employee can safely do within the business group as apposed to a doctors certificate.”

I can confirm that we do not hold information of the description specified in your request. Employee health services are managed by an external provider on behalf of Royal Mail.

No! my GP is my doctor and what he says gos, he has my best interest and health at heart, ATOS are paid to bully you back to work before you are fit to do so, If i'm signed off and have a doctors note when the DOM phones and asks when i'm comming back, i will ask him what date does the docters fit to work note say? and put the phone down!

that in itself is the answer
they have no information on questions regards medical training for front line managers because rm mgmt have no recognised training only inhouse training lets see what jobs they could take up based on their rm qualifications
if a member of staff decides you are fit to work when obviously you are not ask for request in writing and to sign statement himself.only one person can decide if you are fit to work yourself.

Speak as you find and all that. Other people may have had a different experience but in my case ATOS have done everything 'by the book'. They sent a report to the managers, and a copy to me, setting out what I can do and what I cant. It has been adhered to. Legally, it has to be adhered to.
The DOM clearly has his own agenda but he cant overule the ATOS doctor. If I had been dumb enough to do more than the report allows on occasion, out of a misguided attempt to be helpful perhaps, he wouldn't have hesitated to have made that the workrate all the time.

Thorby I think you are wrong to suggest that a manager cannot overule an Atos report.
The report is only a guide for managers and if the manager wants to ignore this he can do so.
I would add that if he was stupid enough to do so and anything happened to anyone then he could be for the high jump.

When i had a period of absence...Atos rang me up, they didnt know what my job was, they didnt know how long i had been off work, my age or anything at all about me.! When i said i had been referred to atos several times in the past about an ongoing health problem, the lady on the other end of the phone said she didnt have any records of me as she works from home. So then i had to try and go over and over old ground and remember everything that had been said in the past. DOESNT SOUND VERY PROFESSIONAL TO ME!
