True but they do bring it on themselves, BSI75 as opposed to our BSI100, 60 minute break as opposed to our 40 minutes, just throwing work down to the DOs in whatever way they want just so long as they're finished on time, having DOs separate and tray up the mail before sending it up to them - all these things really annoy us on delivery and make it less and less likely that we'll support them when they start losing their jobs.
If MC staff seem to have a better deal, maybe its because we start on time (not early),leave on time (not work on for nothing). Also you can hardly blame the MC workers for the BSI!?From what i read on blue shirts forum, you have a lot of DO staff cutting the throats of their fellow postie's who choose to do the job the right way?
Maybe thats where the finger pointing should start?

The first letter is usually a missort...the second is fifty-fifty.
You really need to get to about numbers five and six before you start to get a rough idea which walk it's for.
...but your right about the labels...they are pointless....because they are usually wrong as well.
Got to say that there is a germ of truth in this.
the quality of stuff noticeably went down after our mail center merged with another.
I dont think it its the workers fault anymore than we postmen are responsible for later letters.

DGP,your just typical of some of the employees in royal mail today. The fact you want mail centre workers to lose their jobs says a lot about you as a human being.Maybe one day your job might be in trouble, and you will find out what it feels like for mail centre workers and their families facing going on the dole.

Some delivery staff do that, some don't but that's no reason to have different work rates or longer lunch breaks, and it does nothing to change the fact that the MC sends stuff down to DOs in whatever way they want just so they can get finished and that seems to me to be an attitude of 'screw the delivery staff as long as I'm home'.

Where did I say I wanted MC staff to lose their jobs????
OK, what about this, 'You're typical of some MC staff, doing no work and getting paid twice what I do, it says a lot about you that you think it's ok to have a job that pays you for doing very little and expect others to pull you out of a hole.'

Think the title of this thread is wrong aint it,our own worst enemies.
Management must piss themselves at some of the threads on the site.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
DGP, HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD I WORK.SO YOU CLASS EVERY SINGLE MAIL CENTRE WORKER THE SAME.THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO WORK IN MAIL CENTRES ,SO YOU SHOULD GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT.I DARE SAY YOU ARE A RIGHT BOOT LICKER,BUT THEN AGAIN I SHOULD NOT RALLY MAKE ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT YOU AS I DONT KNOW YOU,BUTS THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.

Senior management maybe but those at the bottom are too dumb to know what's going on.

Temper, temper, you seem to be very angry but if you're such a hard worker then you wouldn't be worried about your job and those who also work hard. My facts are perfectly straight, mail comes down to the DO's not completed, and when I was up in the MC I never saw anything that would make me believe that any of you actually work hard (plus the people who used to do OT in the MC would come back and tell us how slowly MC people 'worked').

Awww, have you spent too much time on these posts, do you need to go for another break to build up your strength again to shout at me
I haven't shouted or insulted you but have just put forward my opinion and you seem to take offence, maybe you should look at yourself and stop insulting those people on delivery by having them do the work you don't want to do.

Is the mail that is arriving at your DO "not completed", is that mech mail and if it's mech mail is it walk sequenced or sorted. If it's sequenced and would normally be done on a CSS machine then it could be that the CSS machine has rejected the batch. Mails being sent between MCs seem to get mixed up more and more. For example the sleeves should only be small packets but often they have large packets (which have to then go in the sleeves to the DOs otherwise if f**ks up the traffic figures on the MIST system), Tracked (not so bad as most MCs tend to put a purple Tracked sticker on the york header card), specials, flats and letters.
If management see an office (be it a MC or DO) clearing with any time to spare then they are bound to want to take hours out (though it wouldn't surprise me if they were to try to take hours out anyway).
I doubt that efficiency will factor in too much as to which MCs will close when mergers happen, it'll probably be more which existing sites have room to expand and which sites they can make money on by selling. Once RM have finished closing which ever MCs they plan on closing, they will eventually turn their attention to DOs. With all the vans RM could merge DOs into super-DOs and house them on industrial estates on the edge of town or out of town.
Drivers are told to top the yorks up, but i put them on as they are because i think it is processing's job to do it. I also do it on the final dispatch, if processing staff wheel me 5 half full yorks of packets down 15 min's before dispatch ill be f****d if im topping them up they have plenty of time to do so i just put them straight on my waggon, gaffer doesn't like it because it's 2 extra yorks he might bulk out by.
Had the argument about break's, it make's me laugh how driver's who are reponable for driving waggon's of 7 1/2 tonne up to 44 tonne who could be a danger to the public if they are tired are only alowed 45 min break by law but processing staff who are sat on there arse all night get 40min and two 20 min breaks to rest there eye's
