Managerial Attitude

Does anyone know if there has been ,(for many many months now), a directive given to managers to be more aggressive in their attitude.Before ,you could have a good chat whilst doing your duty ,i.e. bag segging/sorting/loading etc.
Now, we are constantly told to 'hurry up/where have you been/get on with it/come on faster....and so on.

We even get split up whilst doing downstream access for laughing.

Like been at f*****g school.How childish.
Is it the same at other depots? Is there indeed some memo been handed down ,to police us in this way?

Production bonus in a declining market. They should have their bonus cut.

Seriously, you MC boys need to pull your fingers out and actually do to work you're paid to do.................for a start, try putting label on the boxes instead of sitting in the canteen all day.

Box labels are only needed if the mail for a DO is split into sub-areas (something that will probably end after RM close down MCs, there won't be the room on frames for any splits) or when there are mech bundles for diferent walks. In any case it only takes two seconds two pull your fingers out and look at the first letter in a bundle to see where it's going. Also MC staff don't sit around in the canten all day

The first letter is usually a missort...the second is fifty-fifty.
You really need to get to about numbers five and six before you start to get a rough idea which walk it's for.
...but your right about the labels...they are pointless....because they are usually wrong as well.

Really?? I had the misfortune to spend a week in the MC recently and the canteen was the busiest area in the place, looking out on the actual floor I swear, continental drift was quicker than those people 'working' but I suppose leaning against a york with a vacant look on you face must take so much effort.

Boxes normally get placed on the same yorks by drivers otherwise DOs would get more stuff on the later runs (giving RM an excuse to have DOs starting even later). Are there any CSS machines in use in your area yet? What sorting machines was the MC using? IMPs, or LSMs & MTTs or iLSMs? AFAIK iLSMs have a higher reject rate and once a letter has been rejected by an iLSM it can't be run through again like it could on the LSMs.

At most MCs you'd find when there is work to be sorted that the only people not on the floor are either on meal relief, WTLL or training. Most MCs run on overtime as they don't have the staff to cover everything on duty where hours have been taken out over the years. PM me the name of the MC you visited.

Same in our place. Since we were turned down for the £1400 phantom share money a lot of the managers have started the lets make it a prison again,eg. no talking, laughing, moving, ips testing etc. It was all going well immediately after the Business Transformation Agreement first came out. Then our last review of bullying and harassment problem at Bristol MC came and went, shift manager in the clear starts agitating (accident/assault) and now the £1400 five year lie. Its as if the junior managers see Green and Higson crapping on the postman and saying well if their doing it then so will I, no ones going to stop me with all this going on. Some managers may think its expected of them and so start the oppression to get points, trying to copy those at the top.

True but they do bring it on themselves, BSI75 as opposed to our BSI100, 60 minute break as opposed to our 40 minutes, just throwing work down to the DOs in whatever way they want just so long as they're finished on time, having DOs separate and tray up the mail before sending it up to them - all these things really annoy us on delivery and make it less and less likely that we'll support them when they start losing their jobs.

Well, our DOM is a complete pratt.
A bit like his four or five predecessors.
We don't hold out any hope in our office, of one day getting a DOM who actually knows a thing or two about good management.
