The first walk sequencing trial starts on Wednesday . I can only form an opinion with the information I've been given , if the walk sequencing figures are bull sh*t then our second revision will be doomed to failure . WE will have to wait and see .
We're getting nowhere near 85% sequenced mail as per plan.

This is not an audited thing, it's just obvious every morning that it's way less.

Also a lot of the sequenced stuff has had one passs throught be machinges, or a faulty ass or something, so even of the amount that is "sequenced", it isn't all sequenced at all.

Oh no , my optimism for next month being a success is diminishing with every reply :nervous . I was looking forward to the planner presenting our new duty structures on Tuesday morning but now I'm starting to wonder if I've been a bit gullible .

a little bird as told me that the P&L delivery spans will be increased from four to five hours
Surely such a radical change in the revision will have to be endorsed by the members.
Personally i'm not sure how keen i would be to agree to such a long delivery span.
Not everybody is able to complete 5 hours of delivery every day....just my opinion but i wouldn't touch it.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but can't the P&L delivery spans be up to six hours .
The delivery span is part of an agreed revision process skull.
It drives, amongst other things...the ft/pt mix in your office.
You cannot have an agreed optimum delivery span driven by mail arrival plans, the indoor workload and the staffing mix....and then just let management add another hour because their duties are unachievable.
Tell them to adjust the duties to make them fit 4hrs...not the other way round.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

The delivery spans were agreed in principle between the parties involved in our second revision and then they were put to the whole office through a WTL session where they went down really well . When walk sequencing starts in May there just isn't enough indoor hours to keep everyone occupied if we were to insist on 4hr deliveries . If the indoor workload is dropping isn't common sense to transfer the lost hours onto the duties that were unachievable . At the end of the day we could still be stuck with revision 1 , unachievable duties coupled with senior managent waiting to wield their axe to the office indoor hours when walk sequencing starts .

Our revisions are about to come in around June time, although you could pick any date really as it has changed so much.
I've been a postman for over 30 years and i'm convinced it will not work.
The vans are to small, the walks are to big, a computer simulated world has nothing in common with the real world that we work in.
Pegasis failed and so has the Geo route clone run by Geo route clowns.
Talk to your manager and he will agree with you.
I find it tiring walking 3.5 hours and the thought of 5 hours or more frankly worries me.
I'm 50 years old , my knees are really bad now and i'm fearfull that the fatigue of this job will take a serious toll on our lives.
Nobody would disgree that things had to change a little , but royal mail has taken things to the extream.
Personally i think they are going to have a real problem recruiting new people to this job once us oldies retire, they'll do one day and say '' sod this for a game a soldiers''
It's true that we are all to blame in someways for where we are, but we have to start a fresh now and simply do what royal mail wants us to.............''WORK THE HOURS THAT WE ARE PAYED FOR'' So let's all come in smack on time, take that 40minute break every single day, do a van safety check everyday, use that trolley even if you have a single bundle in your bag and don't cut one single corner and when the last letter in the box time arrives, stop working, come back to the office , sign out and leave your manager to deal with whats left.
Lets not be mugs anymore guy's, if we just do our job, theres nothing they can do.

The problem with this is that there are too may people running scared by the fear factor that RM have introduced over the last decade. If you look at religion, the clergy have used the fear factor for centuries, and they still continue to operate, albeit in a far less effective way than during the middle ages. The working population is now having to put up with a period of management strength, due to a downturn in the economic cycle and shortage of workplaces. The tide will turn again at some time in the future, too late for me unfortunately, but when workers become scarce and management struggle to recruit, then the worker will regain some dominance. Like the weather, these things go round in circles.

If your duties are set up like ours you will not be walking 5 hours . A lot of time is lost moving the van from loop to loop , setting up the trolleys , driving off to complete the specials before one o'clock , looking for packets that could be anywhere in the back of the van after going round a few bends , driving off to deliver the large packets that have no chance of fitting in the trolley , waiting for the road to clear before getting in and out of the van , waiting back at the van for your partner to return from their loop or vice verca.. This all adds up to quite some time , we're out for five hours on a average weight day so it's lots of little walks with plenty of leg rest in-between . You shouldn't be carrying any weight on your shoulder and that makes a massive difference . I hope this eases your worries .
