A judge who launched a foul-mouthed tirade against the British justice system after being found guilty of owning a dangerous dog was at the centre of a fresh police inquiry yesterday.
Judge Beatrice Bolton, 57, vowed never to sit in a court of law again after she was found guilty, branding the verdict a ‘****ing travesty’.
Police are now investigating claims of a fresh dog attack at her home after a postman was bitten on the thigh and buttocks last weekend.
The Royal Mail is so concerned about the safety of its staff it has suspended all deliveries to three properties, including Judge Bolton’s, because of the ‘danger’.
The latest incident happened at 9.35am on Saturday as 52-year-old village postman Kenneth Auld was delivering mail in the Rothbury area of Northumberland.
Witnesses say they heard loud barking and saw Mr Auld being attacked by a German shepherd.
Mr Auld, whose trousers were torn during the attack, was taken to Alnwick Hospital with injuries to his right buttock and thigh and is now on sick leave.
The police have taken statements from neighbours and are investigating the attack.
Sources said Mr Auld told the police that he believed the dog belonged to the £140,000-a-year judge. Mr Auld’s wife, Susan, last night insisted: ‘It was her dog.’
But Judge Bolton said: ‘It’s not my dog.’
Referring to December’s court case, she added: ‘Will you kindly stop publishing that my dog took a chunk out of Frederick Becker, because he didn’t. Everybody agrees that the injury was a scratch.
‘I am warning you that if there is any inference at all that I was involved or that it was my dog, then you are going to be in trouble.’
Judge Bolton, who is the subject of an investigation by the Office for Judicial Complaints, has not sat at Newcastle Crown Court since her extraordinary outburst in December.
Her appearance at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court came after her German shepherd, Georgie, attacked a neighbour’s sunbathing son on May 31 last year.

The seven-year-old dog charged at Frederick Becker, 20, as he lay on the lawn in the garden shared by his family and Judge Bolton. It bit him on the leg, piercing his trousers and leaving a slight wound.
After being found guilty of the offence, Judge Bolton – branded ‘a neighbour from hell’ during the court case – stormed out of the hearing and screamed: ‘I’m going. It’s a ****ing travesty.’ Outside she continued: ‘Do you want a statement? I’ll give you a statement. I have no faith in the justice system whatsoever. I will never sit in a court of law again.’
The magistrates made no order in relation to the dog, which was sent for specialist behavioural training, but ordered Judge Bolton to pay a £2,500 fine.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: ‘Royal Mail takes the safety of its employees very seriously.
‘Regrettably, following an incident on Saturday, April 9, when a postman was bitten by a dog while delivering mail in the Rothbury area, we have been forced to suspend mail deliveries to three properties.’
