In offices where staff have changed to working less days per week than the "old standard" five...
What has happened to the standard annual leave allowance eg. how many annual leave days does a 3-day 22.5 hour PT get? Normally this is based on the number of days an employee works per week, not the number of hours.
Were the staff made aware that they are sacrificing part of their redundancy pay, should the worst case scenario happen? Again, Statutary Redundancy Pay is normally based on number of days worked per week, not the number of hours.
Something else that has crossed my mind for my current section at the depot is the "skeleton staff" crisis, as our lino relies on many PTers working their day off; covering the FT duty cut-offs on heavy days; covering the lack of "day off cover"... all through overtime. Several people have left over the last year, without replacement people being employed. The "mercenary overtimers" are much less likely to want o/t if they have just done an 8-hour duty on one of their rota 3 days, so does this mean our depot is likely to have to advertise jobs when our revision process kicks in, in a few months?.

No it's not....it's based on weekly pay,age and years of service.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote: Were the staff made aware that they are sacrificing part of their redundancy pay, should the worst case scenario happen? Re: New Menu Of Duty Options
If you work a 5 day week and have 6weeks entitlement you get 30 days....if you work a 3 day week you get 18 days but since you only need to use 3 to have a week of....you still get 6 weeks.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote: What has happened to the standard annual leave allowance eg. how many annual leave days does a 3-day 22.5 hour PT get? Re: New Menu Of Duty Options
There was a point brought up to my attention just today which involved part timers who, prior to this revision, worked a rota of MTW, then TFS the following week...........the point was that as the majority of Bank Holidays fall on Monday and on those days they were due to work they would get a day in lieu, that no longer applies because the new rota is TFS every week and so they would lose days off over the year.
It is perfectly valid of course BUT the new menus were put to the vote last November when the BHs had all but finished and no one had considered the long term impact..............

Re: New Menu Of Duty Options
Maybe things have changed (again) since when the company I worked for went into liquidation a couple of years ago, but back then during the financial crisis we were all asked to go from a 5-day 35-hour week to a 4-day 30-hour. As this period of reduced hours and more importantly reduced days of work happened more than 12 weeks before the company went "belly up" without being able to pay redundancy pay, staff including myself lost out on some "notice pay" and "years of service" pay through the SRP scheme.fishtank wrote:No it's not....it's based on weekly pay,age and years of service.IloveMYredTROLLEY! wrote: Were the staff made aware that they are sacrificing part of their redundancy pay, should the worst case scenario happen? You would hope as posties we would not have to go through this if the worst happens (but who knows with the recent doom and gloom news from "up high"), but I've no idea off the top of my head if their is any nasty clause in our contracts that could affect us in a similar manner.

I think they would be entitled to at least a pro-rata equivalent for Bank Holidays DV.dvbuk55 wrote:There was a point brought up to my attention just today which involved part timers who, prior to this revision, worked a rota of MTW, then TFS the following week...........the point was that as the majority of Bank Holidays fall on Monday and on those days they were due to work they would get a day in lieu, that no longer applies because the new rota is TFS every week and so they would lose days off over the year.

bag69 wrote:Part time shafted yet again. They expect us to work every fri, sat & mon. Thought this was supposed to be a national agreement. Not just one for full timers. I may be pt but i still do a five day week. Only difference is i dont do any ips. Still have to prep my own round. So where is my 1 in 4 off???????? I voted no. Hope everyone who voted yes is starting to realise the consequences. No going back now.
part time shafted ? , in our office weve just had a repick and 4 permanent full time staff have been left without a perm duty (floaters) no 1 in 4 and there must be at least 10+ p/timers been made up to f/t with perm dutys how the f**k does that work.

Re: New Menu Of Duty Options
You'll probably find, as I did long after the fact, that the FT contracts are only temporary contracts and can be reverted back to PT once the revision has bedded in.. However that does beg the question that they should be in seniority order. Our PT in the main are also Thu, Fri, Sat 8.20 a day to make up their 25 hours...................they had a vote as part timers as to whether they accepted the deal and they did. I suppose having a 4 day break brings other opportunities. Some had previously been on a 10, 10, 5 hour 3 day week swapping about from week to week and so I suppose they chose the new system as preferable.worktotime wrote:bag69 wrote:Part time shafted yet again. Stay on a rotating day off and screw 'em how can they contemplate 5hr duties on that rotate!
