Seemed a lot of meched letters for a wed Not a bad day out cooler than recent mornings so i got stuck in and finished at 13.50 with a 30 min break.

I've had a strange week on my current walk. Twice I've had a series of letters handed to me that had been posted through somebody's door - with numbers and street names nothing alike to their address. I'm pretty sure that I haven't been responsible for it - I check every letter, and for me to mix up 17, 1, 4 and 2 simultaneously seems like a bit of a leap, to do something similar twice is just not possible. Now, when I've been handed them back, I've been given the impression that they were not necessarily posted all that recently - as in, not this week. The duty-holder is a pretty cool dude but does have an IDGAF attitude, so I suspect that he is responsible for both errors and that I am the one bearing the brunt of it the following week.

I'm 99.99% sure it wasn't me anyway!

Seven mech trays of letters just about killed the day dead

We got an addressed 'No to AV' leaflet today for nearly every house. Two days to clear them. There were at least three upstairs managers helping with prep. Loads of people kicking off. I actually felt sorry for the lino. I left at 1010 and half the section was still there.

Didn't we used to get paid for this sort of stuff, or was that a different kind of election material?

Its not really election material but a information leaflet released by the gov so falls outside the agreement concerning payment

Day was brightened up by a new entrant tying up his round as we still had about an hours sorting to do! It was hilarious, everyone was cracked up. He was busy there putting his bundles into his bags when the manager went over and asked what he was doing, There was about 50 of us standing behind the manager wetting ourselves. The poor new entrant was obviously not trained properly and had to untie his bundles and start putting the mail back in the frame.

I had to be released for a hospital appointment mid morning. DOM has known about it for 2 weeks. I even gave him a photocopy of the appointment letter.
So, I went in today, said to line manager "you still remember I'm being released, yeah?" No. First time he'd heard anything about it. DOMs not in office for rest of week. He wasn't happy. I got my release though.

It's a crying shame but I've seen enough of it. It's endemic to Royal Mail, this selfishness. Everyone's concerned with themselves.

Fridays was very much like Thursday. Mail about the same, just slightly less packets. Same finish time. Weekend off. Out last night so spent the day chilling out.
