Police probe dog attack near Judge Beatrice Bolton's home

AN investigation has been launched after a postman was allegedly attacked by a dog near the house of leading judge, The Journal can reveal.

Judge Beatrice Bolton is being investigated by the police for the second time after Kenneth Auld was allegedly bitten by a dog while he was delivering post to a house in Rothbury, Northumberland.

Royal Mail has suspended deliveries to the house of Judge Bolton and two of her neighbours because of fears over the safety of its postal staff.

The alleged incident comes just months after Judge Bolton was convicted of failing to control her German Shepherd, which attacked a neighbour less than a year ago.

Police were called on Saturday after the postman claimed he was bitten in the leg by a dog while working in the Whitton area of the village.

Mr Auld, 52, received treatment for his injuries in hospital and is currently off work.

When approached by The Journal, Mr Auld, from Morpeth, Northumberland, said: “I’m sorry, but I can’t say anything because there is an ongoing police investigation.”

It is believed Mr Auld was delivering a package to Judge Bolton’s neighbour on Saturday when a dog bit him. He received treatment in Wansbeck Hospital and was discharged the same day.

The Journal understands the dog suspected of the attack is not owned by the judge.

Judge Bolton, 57, is not currently sitting at Newcastle Crown Court as she is subject to a separate investigation by the Office for Judicial Complaints following her conviction in December.

The judge swore and stormed out of court after a District Judge returned a guilty verdict following a two-day trial at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court. Following the verdict, she stormed out of court and branded the decision “a f***ing travesty”.

Police were called in May last year when Judge Bolton’s pet dog, a seven-month-old bitch named Georgina, sunk her teeth into her neighbour Frederick Becker’s left leg as he was sunbathing.

The court heard that the 20-year-old’s parents, David and Anne Malia, had labelled the judge and her partner “neighbours from hell”.

They described living “in terror” of the dog and kept a “dog log” of incidents when the pedigree animal strayed on to their land. The two families shared a garden behind their adjoining property.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “On Saturday, April 9, police received a report that a man had been bitten by a dog in the Whitton area of Rothbury.

“The man attended a local hospital for treatment to an injury. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

Last night the Judicial Communications Office confirmed that Judge Bolton is still subject to an investigation and she has agreed not to sit until it is complete. A spokesman did not wish to comment on the current police investigation.

Judge Bolton was not available for comment.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “Royal Mail takes the safety of its employees very seriously indeed, particularly those staff who deliver the mail. The suspension of mail deliveries is a last resort.

“Regrettably, following an incident on Saturday April 9 when a postman was bitten by a dog while delivering mail in the Rothbury area, we have been forced to suspend mail deliveries to three properties.

“We want to resume deliveries as soon as possible when our postmen and women will not be at risk of a dog attack.

“We have notified customers at all three addresses and informed them that they can collect their mail from Morpeth Delivery Office. In the meantime we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

So does the postie in question actually know who the owner of this dog is?

Apparently, I'm a "Fraudulent Opportunist and a Liar" according to my dog attack owners...ie, I wasn't attacked etc.
Now, 18mths later, they admit 80% responsibility, ( So how did I cause the other 20% - By breathing?!)

We had a lad bitten 2 weeks ago. The postie said, "Your dog just bit me!"
The owners reply? "No it didn't..." and walked away with his dog.
I saw the red marks on his ankle hours later.

These dog owners need bloody locking up, or use the banned Electric Collars on them!

Not only an irresponsible dog owner, but a fugging judge as well. It's bad enough having a bitch run around loose, without also having its of an owner behaving as though she is to be exempted from any blame. :arrrghhh

Money problems, eh? Well we've all got them, haven't we? Trouble is, this judge has clearly lost it -- her mind, that is. How a judge, ffs, can knowingly be aware of one's own state of mind to the point of no regard for others and still continue to think that they are a responsible dog owner is beyond me.

I'm not sure that training her dog will be enough. Might be an idea to put 'em both down. :whistle
