AN ATTEMPT to smuggle 10,656 forged first class stamps into the UK through the Port of Dover has been foiled by the UK Border Agency.
The stash of counterfeit stamps – worth almost £5,000 at 46p a time – was discovered in the boot of a car driven by Robert Krzysztof Aleksiejczyk when he arrived at the Eastern Docks from France on February 14.
After uncovering the haul during a routine search, border officers referred the find to technical experts at the Royal Mail and they confirmed them as forgeries.
Aleksiejczyk, a 31-year-old Polish resident of Salford, has now been charged with possession of a false instrument under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act and has been bailed to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
Paul Booth, the UKBA assistant director in Dover, said: “This was an unusual detection by our officers. While some might see stamp smuggling as harmless, the money from this kind of smuggling is often recycled into organised crime.”
Anyone with information about smuggling of any kind should contact the UKBA hotline on 0800 595000.

That's a lot of work for 5K.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Robert Krzysztof Aleksiejczyk - imagine writing out a 739 for him.
Even I'd be tempted to doorstep his packages.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

How strange they make a fuss about a few stamps (and blame by implication the Polish workers) but don’t bother to mention the real problems with RM the 3 euro directives that have f*cked the Royal Mail, management that couldn’t make Jesus believe in Christianity and add DSA that both Europe and our "Government" forced on us and a Pole with a few grand is a nothing. The real problem is "Government" not some bit part chancer trying to get some cash. We need to wake up.
