A few mail centres have done so already throughout the country, at least that is what our local reps said.

Our reps also said that the brief was leaked and was not intended for National viewing until Royal Mail had made their decision based on said brief, as such they told staff to stay on board until it became official.

Yes, it was/is a leaked brief for Royal Mail. Had this confirmed by local reps last night.

(For consideration at the Special Postal Executive Meeting On 28th March 2011)

It's 100% official.

All Postal Branches must ensure that local representatives are provided with a copy of the document and that the Union's policy is fully explained in meetings with the representatives. In addition, Branches should ensure that the Union's policy is communicated in the workplace. Furthermore, you should also provide the relevant managers with a copy of the Union's policy.
We will be asking CWU Divisional Representatives to oversee this process and ensure that all Postal Branches confirm their support for the policy by the end of next week.

Stupid question but what does world class mail actually mean? Any downloads or documents stating what it involves would be enlightening.

There are a few threads in this forum, just look down.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

World Class Manufacturing

The concept of World Class Manufacturing includes strategies such as Total Quality Control (TQC), Just in Time (JIT), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and others regarding management, technology and services. It could be said that WCM is an extension of TPM in which other concepts such as safety, the environment, customer services, total control of product quality, development of staff and cost reduction have been added to its basic pillars, being supported by the solid base of the 6S´s methodology. This gives an idea of the customer-based focus of this industrial model.

Based on continuous improvement, WCM studies and predicts breakdowns of machines and facilities. It also enables improvements in the quality of processes and products and the reduction of costs through the optimisation of the overall efficiency of machines and facilities and the continuous reduction of losses. This system promotes the participation of people in the elimination of losses and safety risks, and it involves also subcontracted companies.
