She does say for OT .
We've had a massive clamp down on overtime in recent weeks and the office is fast approaching the disaster of week one when P&l was first introduced . Until the powers that be invest more hours in our office it will never work . Even if they get the whips out nothing will happen because the work load is impossible to complete in the time given. They clearly believe that the job is doable because the computer says " it is " but for some strange reason no senior manager will come near and point us in the right direction and show us where we are going wrong .

Most people are prepared/desperate for that extra 5-10 hours a week OT to make the job pay a living wage. People that don't want to come in and can survive on a flat week every week are few and far between in my experience of 15 years at RM. Those that wish to work their hours currently are not pressured into 'flexing up', but this is the model that RM and CWU have 'agreed' as the way of working. Low cost base flexing up to cover increased traffic levels. The alternative was what we had - high cost base flex down in decreased periods of traffic (summer lapsing) Neither is ideal but we got what we got. Unless we take RM back to the negotiating table there is only this and if you lot hadn't noticed we are in a recession and this job currently just pays my mortgage the OT pays for the extras. If you think there is a better way please share it with the rest of the class because I have read the job ads and there aint much out there at the moment. Lecture over now to bed to sleep untli Monday when the fun starts all over again.

I just hope they don't pull the overtime rug from under your feet . If your office is costing the business to much money you will be exspected to do that work in your normal hours . When the powers that be were happy to pay out the overtime at our office that's the nearest revision got to nearly working . Now our 32.5 hr staff have to start at 07.45 , they work 6.5 hr days once you take out the on average 5 hr p&l delivery , breaks and vehicle check they are left with about 45 mins to prep

not got P&L yet but in preperation we have lots of new starters, leaving the peeps that usually work their day out.... well.... out of pocket!
no OT whatsoever for those that want or even rely upon it

The final section of our office goes onto P & L in a couple of weeks. One pair took a look at their proposed route & were told by the "planner" that on a busy day they would need assistance because "the duty times will not be achievable"

Re: is park and loop get any better any were ?
Well we trialled park and loop today......2 of the double walk van pairings got done on time ,but the one i was in failed miserably as 1,its the biggest walk in the rotation and had an hr put on top of it ,we were an hr late going out ,try telling the planner tho, complete waste of time just couldnt see why were late
An entire walk got brought back just not enough time ,and its not like he wasnt told ,just never listened ,so now we are taking the other walk out 1st tom doubled up of cause but hey ho ,its only a job,oh and did i point out not working 1 min past my time !!!!!!!!!!

Re: is park and loop get any better any were ?
we were miles away from workable duties but are area and divisional rep ok with royal mail pushing it ahead over local reps head.
came in for first time today we had guys go sick and as there staff levels were all ready screwed up part timers doing full time jobs it was a disaster waiting to go.
nobody got out on time most got out of office 1 hour to 2 hours later than thought breakoffs all over the place.
hope the union was watching.

Re: is park and loop get any better any were ?
Yeah, it came in yesterday in our office, despite our local rep doing everything he could, with reasonable grounds, to get issues ironed out before implementation it came in anyway, apparently with the blessing of area and div reps. The way those two have behaved over all this has been unbeleivable, just one more tier of RM bullying management for us to contend with now, they seem happy for RM to steamroller whatever they want through.
We were also told that they'd be with us every step of the way when the revisions came in, to make sure it was al fair and achievable. No sign of them, no contact.
Anyway, I don't THINK any of the P&L duties completed, the duties themselves are bizarre, the computer programme has made achievable duties unachievable. The one I was on we managed about 60% of the delivery, others seemed to be about the same. There's one pair I think may have completed, but it would have been well over time.
All colleagues returning from the P&L routes complained of illogical routes, repeated dead walks, down time waiting for colleagues to return to van, unrealistic times for loading/unloading trolleys etc.
It's a failure, the workers have always known it, the management now acccept it, the CWU seem to be the only ones telling us its fine. But its coming anyway.

How is Saturday finishing time for those who do Park and loop and changing start time.
is it still possible to come in 6am to finish before 1 rather than come in say 8 to 3 for example. For football fans.
