Oh feck. Wait for it guys, Billy Hayes tells us he's secured the deal of the millenium. We can all buy shares in Royal Mail, as many as we like, and they'll only cost us £1400 per share.

Anyhow, somebody answer me this:

If the main reason Royal Mail was opened up to competition was because it was a monopoly, how does allowing TNT or DHL to buy the biggest player not create an even BIGGER monopoly and thus reduce competition ? :hmmmm

If Billy Hayes is to be the Chairman of this new co-operative then in the immortal words of Duncan Bannatyne...

Be honest with, that much of a windfall how many of you would mourn never seeing another letter ever again :chuckle

Nice idea. How do we make sure we get our fair share of money and workload and sack the bad managers and make it worth while. There will be too many people have opinions and how do make sure we use the right ones. And we can cut out CWU as well.

Voting options to say what we want on all sort of policy then pick the overall.

1. Starting time

A) 5.00am -1.30pm
B) 6.00am - 2.30pm
C) 7.00am - 3.30pm
D) 8.00am - 4.30pm
E) 9.00am - 5.30pm

and more Q & A

We are going to end up being franchises anyway.
WERE ALL DOOMED FRIENDS.
Hi.. I work for parcelforce 55 hours a week of pure hell every week...this privatisation of royal mail, no one ever mentions parcelforce in this sale..the post offices have been talked of as going seperate and the letters up for sale but whats the deal with parcelforce? if we mention it to our managers we hear nothing other than "thats royal mail nothing to do with parcelforce"??? its crap coz we dont know whats going on and no one is telling us! I would really like to know whats going on with parcelforce in all this. As for a CWU rep coming up and letting us know the score...Ive never met one in 7 years at our depot, wouldn't know him if he stood up in me soup. Another point I've read on this site, why cant we own the company like a "JOHN LEWIS" set up?? please advise if this is not a good idea? why cant the unoin be making big inroads on this kind of worker ownership of the company as a whole? Why dont the workers in total not seperated, royal mail/post offices/parcelforce say we want to be in a JOHN LEWIS style partnership rather than this "us and them" thing we have had to put up with forever. I know that everyone would be happier in that kind of enviroment rather than the crap and targets hammered onto us all each day from our managers. Its crap and so outdated and royal mail is huge. We are bigger than them and can transform things if only the workers could be together with a coherent message to our union and the government. please reply.. thanks.[/b]

Think someone need to do serious research on John Lewis method and work out how to make it Royal Mail version of John Lewis.

Sound's simple and yet appealing.....but a free market will often make people do whats right for them as opposed to each n everyone..would sell my shares IF i get them to the union at market price.

We have the knowledge and skills to run the the business , if we feel we can do a better job then lets explore it. Management buyouts are commonplace so why not sell to the employees, CWU must be able to put a presentation together to a bank just as competently as TNT , seriously .....why not ?
ok lets have a whip round.
seriously do you think the current cwu have what it takes ?and even if you believe that
would an investor invest in the "enemy" which rightly or wrongly is how most business types perceive the cwu.

Based on a workforce of 130,000. If the company was valued at 2£bn it would need a stake of just over £15,000 each. :hmmmm
