Far heavier than elsewhere? Have you been to all of elsewhere? Loads of houses converted into flats,im sure Sara Beenie
will able to vouch that this dosnt only happen in London,redirections? i do a delivery with 80 redirections and im north of Scotland.

Really dont wanna get into the London thing but if 3.40 is the spans they were gonna get(and could someone confirm what
exactly the less meal breaks etc equates to in minutes) then why is it the optimum delivery span in Scotland is 4.15?
This is what my office is being told to accept and i think the main reason behind it is to justify the expense of vans needed
for park and loop,shorter delivery spans equals more vans needed.

Now if London get(or were getting) 3.40 then good for them,but if in other areas the Div and Area reps are not backing
offices who are trying to keep the spans down then why is that happening?

The key word there is in red. Didnt say they were heavier than everywhere mate. Just my experience of 2 different areas and a possible explanation of why the span was possibly shorter.

Fair point,been a pretty heavy couple of weeks at my place so was having a wee rant,and taking my frustrations out
on RMC, as i do from time to time. at the end of the day we are all sinking in the same ship.

This agreement could well be classed as the day the union died.........or at least copped out from it's responsibilities to the membership who are the paymasters and not Royal Mail.............although you'd be hard pressed to know that.

What ever became of the deal brokered between cwu and rm ...... royal fail would finance the cwu ..you know after the p&m deal

No news is well the usual really...............any meetings, plans, union involvement, calls for action or is it a little under the counter dealing

As a member from the West of Scotland I am well aware of the lack of sympathy with London, for whatever reason, but Dingo is right. The issue is not the closure of the Mail Centres, as others have said MC's have closed with shamefully little fight from the CWU nationally. The issue is compulsory redundancy. EVR, the traditional method of dealing with 'surplus staff' provides enhanced payments. Compulsory redundancy, as I understand it, provides only the legal minimum payment.

If RM enforce this in the London area, we will all be next.

Hopefully the position will be clearer after the national briefing, but this is no time to give up the fight.

PS I was against the business transformation agreement.

i know my own personal views yes we can all say fcuk london but in reality when the s**t hits fan the first question we all ask is has london walked

If members are genuinely threatened with Compulsory redundancy,then they will have my full support.

I ask this in all seriousness - if a unit of any size, in any location, of any discipline has a surplus workforce on the ratio of work to staff with insufficient volunteers to take EVR - then what is the solution..........I believe that this scenario has been the root of many of the problems we face and that sooner or later the grim reality HAS to be addressed.

Will the regulations on retirement have an impact for example? One suggestion at a previous juncture when unemployment was high was to bring in job share. What will privatisation bring, will the new owners honour anything other than statutory redundancy, will they offer new contracts with less in terms of pay and conditions. I ask this because a local council in the area I live did precisely that.
