stage 1,2-------your fired
Any office got a problem with sick stages?
In my area it's stage 1, stage 2 then your sacked pending appeal no matter what doctor/hospital cover you have!!
Is this happening anywhere else??

i know at the stage 1, you have no appeal, but at stage 2 you have, then you flag up the reasons of the absence, ie, hospital or doctors appointment, or if the absence was caused by an injury at work, then they cant use these against you. ALSO if you have had the same illness for over 12mths you are covered by DDA, AND the employer must take this into consideration, but you must go thru the employee health service regime, they will recomend to the employer what action to take to ensure that the person has the right means to do his or her job. hope that makes sence.

Thanks bud.
But really, i want to know is there is other offices where they are being such assholes about sickness and sacking people because of it??
I asked area reps and they said there is no negotiation at any stage now.
We had one chap who had a heart attack in work and the screw awarded him a stage 2!!!!

dont understand that one, the screw must be a right B*****D. My screw told me yesterday i had triggerd a stage 2, but it wouldnt be issued because i was covered by DDA, as my illness has been ongoing for the last 14mths. Havent heard about the scrapping of appeals at stage 2 & 3. i would enquire with hq on this one.

Its a total disgrace, like if someone has an unlucky bout of illness they loose there job!!!!!!! i have heard that in the civil service if one is hospitalized it dont count towards a stage in your sick record... and also if any are work relate issues they shud not be counted either!!! again, i bet all they guys getting sacked are f-timers!!!!

There is no right to appeal at stage 1 or 2, this has always been the case. Some managers may just issue them automatically as it means less paperwork, and it ultimately becomes someone elses problem as it is area managers who hold RTU interviews.
Thing is, in the case of a Stage 3 if they want to sack you they can do. It is entirely up to them unfortunately, luckily we have the appeals process and of course the unfair dismissal tribunal. But it would seem that at the moment a stage 3 means a sacking.

Sorry to say it but in our office if your face fits your okay.I know some who should be on a stage 10 by now
But because the DOM knows damn well he cannot get a replacement if he sacks them. Just ignores it. I sympathise with the guy on a stage 2 after a heart attack. Can you imagine it amongst all the get well cards a letter from RM saying don't do it again. Our these stage warnings the norm in the rest of british companies?

local doctors
local doctors are sick to death with royal fail.
When they ask people who they work for, when asked for a letter, and the reply is RM, they say oh god not another one.
the attendance procedure is a farce and the intimidation that goes on when you are off sick is disgusting.
next time you fill that useless piece of crap out ' have your say' you know what to put for' is royal fail a good employer!!!
Bollox they are!!

Totally agree !
I had an accident on duty recently, and received two letters from RM on only the second day of my absence, in spite of the fact that my not being at work was due to an AOD
And then a day or so later, their computer system spat out another letter, warning that my attendance had not exceeded Royal Mail standards, but was 'showing signs of doing so' or some similar bollox, presumably because my last absence before the AOD was in October last year, meaning the two absences fell within a rolling 12-month period.
I remember breaking a limb a few years back, and getting the same letter whilst I was stuck at home in plaster. The prats had already been given medical certs signing me off until my next hospital appointment six weeks later, yet I still got the letter.
Thankfully, the manager concerned has fecked off somewhere else now, the
