I would certainly not want to be working in your office viewfinder, but i don't think you can do anything about this situation on your own.
Things should be quite relative,so you should also have a shortened delivery span?
my advice to you would be to simply worry about yourself, and let the manager worry about how efficiently his office is running
Come in on your official start time, and if your walk is not ready, then they may have to start using a full-timer to prep your duty before you get there

Therein lies the problem. I am a part-timer with a full-time walk! I do everything that a full-timer does but I have to work my hours to be paid them.

I need to know so I have some ammunition against my DOM when I query why some of my full-time colleagues were able to finish up to FOUR hours early today. This is not an unusual occurence either, it happens nearly every day , but not usually for four hours.
As a part-timer who has to work ALL his paid hours I am getting extremely pi$$ed off when they swan off home whilst I still have hours to work. It is grossly unfair. Surely with Royal Mail in supposed dire financial straits no manager should be allowing this to happen when there is still work to be done in the office. Would a manger be failing in his responsibilities if he knowingly allowed this to happen?
Does anyone know the names and seniority of the management structure in the PE area? I may need these if I get no joy from my DOM. You can reply by PM for anonymity.
These people have probably sweated buckets over the years to get better rounds and no doubt they work flat out when they are there. How long have you worked for RM? Not long I bet and so you bitch and moan at how hard your life is compared to others. Perhaps if you stopped wasting so much time crying about how easy everyone else has it you would get done a bit quicker?
Insult which is against the rules removed - Debate please no insults.

Console yourself with the fact that these shortsighted mental midgets ,will, within eighteen months either be without a job or on a part time contract like yours " I'm just making hay man"Complete tossers
Experience and own walk postie will sort out the mail faster than a newbie or reserve postie.
Some postie make up times by
coming early e.g. 5.30am instead of 6am.
bringing home their door 2 doors stuff to save time on sorting
using their car
using their friends to throw in the walk while they are in IPS if it quiet
skipping breaks
running on duty
door stepping
extra strength and fitness and stamina
it is nice to finish early, what annoy me is having too much work and not enough time to do the job properly.
I think they can save 2 hours on a duty but not 4 hours.
I think the only time i finished my duty 4 hours early was about 12 years ago when i was on a belter of a (mainly) firms walk (and when i say walk, 80% u never got off your bike ),
and that was on a saturday only, firms shut = mail left in for monday = early finish,
they were seriousley happy days, i LOVED that walk
Those days are now long gone, and that duty is an absolute nightmare,
the gaffers have cottened on to firms not wanting mail on saturdays so added half of another walk to that duty on saturday
Wouldn't panic,as each revision goes in there will be no more flyers, some peeps are in for a shock.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

let them enjoy it , they are entitled to it after long service
Try putting yourself in my shoes then see how you like it. Why do you assume they have long service, not that it is relevant.
Are you suggesting I don't work hard? I work harder than those full-timers and longer but earn less. And I'm not a newbie - 13 years service so bang goes that theory.
If everyone was treated equally and fairly in this job then maybe Royal Mail wouldn't be in the state it is. Everybody should get paid for the hours they actually work.
Better still make them all work to time and then they could sack all the part timers, be careful what you wish for!

Oh yeah. I remember one Saturday 5 am start, two walks thrown up by 6 and finishing mine and the or walk by 8 am. Happy days indeed. Did we ever think that would last?

Ain't that the truth
It is hard to comprehend the different working practices after all the agreements since 2007 If some of those offices had genuinely put in the changes then the threat of redundancies would be much much less.
We still have it,it all depends on the Dom and what day it is.
Mondays all our drivers absorb a walk between them,Tuesdays its the walkers(3 walks absorbed today)Wednesday onwards its no absorbtion, some bods cut off, some bods finish early and go home, managers dont mind and turn a blind eye, thats how it is.
