Our polling cards came in on Saturday first class for the May 5th local elections, and we have sky mags and poll tax bills as well awaiting under our frames to go. DOM says “all polling cards has to be delivered on Saturday if you want to leave sky mags and 2nd class poll tax bills in you can but all polling cards has to go”

We argued it is a 100 % call rate and we won’t have enough time to them. Some dicks done the lot and others only done half, apparently DOM says “ people who did all of them Saturday will get paid those that done half will get naff all. How he can do this is beyond me?
So I done a few Saturday and the rest today, so its over to the floater to do my poll tax bills because I'm of tomorrow, yay.

They should ALL have been delivered on saturday if they were first class.
That doesn't mean that you have to,it means that your manager should have resourced their delivery properly.
You should have been paid for what you could deliver and other resources should have been used to complete delivery.
NONE of them should have been left until monday.

It states in the joint brief from CWU/RM....

We were told that they all had to go on fri and no mention of any extra payment!!

Election Material 2011 – Poll Cards

Following discussions with Royal Mail last week regarding the above we have now reached an agreed position that we hope will enable the successful delivery of election material and in particular Poll Cards. In simple terms all poll cards will be paid for at the rate per item applicable to the delivery unit, in line with the national agreement covering the delivery of election material. It is hoped that this will remove local disagreements/disputes which prevailed in some areas last year regarding which poll cards were covered by unit payment and which went into normal workload as all items are covered by the unit payment.

CWU Reps will need to be aware that the poll cards will have to be delivered in line with their product specification.

Similar advice has also been communicated to Royal Mail Regional Planning Managers and a copy of that advice is attached to this LTB for reference purposes.

Referendum material will need to be dealt with through local discussions to ensure suitable arrangements are in place to deal with the associated workload and any weight on delivery, replenishment and/or storage issues.

The payment is four and half pence per card this year bearing in mind if you have for example 750 drops on your walk it doesn’t mean you will receive 750 polling cards there could be as many as 6 to 7 adults eligible to vote in one household. Plus the fact people that vote by postal votes do not receive one.
Everyone should have counted their cards other than that the DOMs are going to estimate the count, it could go your way and it also could go their way.
They won't do me out four and a half pence. The DOMs was weighing them rather than counting them.....
