On your brief scale dingo i belong to this group.dingo wrote:those who will vote no because they believe they were sold out and will be happy to get stiched up by the employer everytime just as long as they get stick two fingers up at the union
Thing is though it's not about sticking two fingers up to the union.
I very much 'believe' that we have been sold out twice in quick succession. Three times if you include the unopposed pension changes.
My concern is that if we vote to strike, then the same thing will happen again.
It's not any fun being stitched up by your employer but it's hardly any better when it's your union and your employer.
It's not just about the union top bods either. but also the number of people i work with who vote for any s**t put in front of them because "it's going to come in anyway."
What would we be striking about? getting RM to houner the agreement? the agreement that i think is a piece of s**t anyway.

Re: will they ballot us AGAIN!?
So i will expect to see Area and Divisional reps touring the M/C's and D.O.'s listening to the members and asking them what they want and if they still feel their is still fight within the union.dingo wrote: There are a lot of other issues which are things which may lead to a ballot but the national briefing will flush out if there is still fight within the union.
They better get their skates on if they are to have a genuine feel for the mood of the membership by the 29th...
Or will they just say what's expected of them.?
If you want to go to war dingo...fine,i'm certainly up for it but make sure your intel is bang on this time because last time the union got it way wrong and ended up with the troops going into battle looking for one thing...and being served up something completely different.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Fishtank The only plausable thing we could on strike for is to make RM houner the agreement ie. the s**t that members on delivery have been hit with would still stand.fishtank wrote:So i will expect to see Area and Divisional reps touring the M/C's and D.O.'s listening to the members and asking them what they want and if they still feel their is still fight within the union.dingo wrote: There are a lot of other issues which are things which may lead to a ballot but the national briefing will flush out if there is still fight within the union.

Forget this agreement belle...it is deader than a dead dog's bone.belle smith wrote: Fishtank The only plausable thing we could on strike for is to make RM houner the agreement ie. the s**t that members on delivery have been hit with would still stand.
What you would be striking for is what little you have left because Royal Mail wants it all.
MTSF,pay protection,Compulsary Redundancies, the remaining pay rises, anything we have that the private sector doesn't...that's what Royal Mail want....before privatisation because that will maximise our sale price.
That is the basis for the new Government/Royal Mail business plan.

Feeling at our place is the union isn't up to the job of negotiating. and they're certainly never up for a fight.
If they do ballot us and get a NO vote they'll be in the sh*t as far as their own jobs are concerned.

It is the cwu membership that decide wether or not to accept any agreement buy using there individual votes. !! Many cwu members are blinded by accepting the dangled carrot of a cash payment. The local / area reps should be advocating strength and not grab and run tactics.

Was mail centre review part of the agreement?
Are London being treated the same as the rest of the UK?

If we go on strike Senior CWU bods will be stating the reason is RM are not hounering the agreement. They wont be saying forget the agreement it's dead.
All the s**t that came with the agreement would still stand unlimited delivery spans, unacheavable performance standards inspite of the fact that every (as far as i can see) wsm revision deployed is an unmitigated disaster.
Have you seen our area rep recently Fishtank......i haven't he was posted missing during the 6 stage process, turned up to sell the revision and has since been posted missing again, which might be okay if the revision worked, but it doesn't. If it appears not to redgister with our area rep why would it redgister with HQ.
If the union were seriously taking up the point that the DO revisions don't and can't work and that RM's plans for delivery in practice have been a disaster, then fine but they wont do that, even if they said it i don't think i would trust them.
Since this obviously effects our CMA colleagues as well will they be strikeing too?

On this occassion they may be getting treated worse, Royal Mail want to sell the land from the MC's they close. That land is worth more in London (and London members also get paid more) which is why they want the bare minimum number of MC's there. Are London being treated the same as the rest of the UK?
Royal Mails plan involves moving work which is currently carried out in London, to outside London.
