"Royal Mail Group faces a challenging future. Transforming the Company into really competitive and successful businesses (Royal Mail, Post Office Ltd and Parcelforce Worldwide) requires major commitment from everyone. As a mark of Royal Mail Group’s commitment, we launched the “ColleagueShare Plan” in May 2007. Through the course of the Plan, ColleagueShares worth a total of 20% of the estimated value of Company will be given out. This means that over the five-year life of the Plan, ColleagueShares and Stakeholder Dividends combined could be worth as much as £5,300*.
When the plan was launched in 2007 ColleagueShares were initially valued at £1, by 2008 the value of the Company has risen to £1.63 a 63% increase, and in May 2008 full time employees received an initial £800 stakeholder dividend payment for meeting targets across the business (pro-rata for part-timers and new joiners). The increase in value of ColleagueShares has been attributable to implementing the difficult decisions we have had to make, and through recognising the success of changes that are beginning to transform our businesses.
The brochure provides a full explanation of the plan and what it means.
* depending on when you joined the company will determine what number of ColleagueShares could be issued to you before the end of the plan in 2012. Part-time employees will receive pro-rata awards."

Spot on ... with the way costs have not been reduced in line with revenue only a fool would have expected them to be worth much.
The most worrying aspect is the job losses (the MC closures were expected and had been planned for many years) and more importantly the way they will be handled. If it follows the same pattern as the 1700 support staff then we are all in for a bumpy ride as many were forced out either on CR or through fear. RM made no attempt to find 99% of the alternative employment (either onto existing Vacs/using bumping/returning acting managers to their substantive grades) and the timescales were very short.
Why I bring skills and experience to the job just as much as Moya and her managers so why should I be grateful - Thankful yes, appreciative maybe but grateful sorry thats a bit serf like for me. Royal Mail should be grateful it has such a dedicated workforce yet it isn't, so why should I be grateful.
Answers on a stamp please.

Exactly the same in 4 years time as they were 4 years ago. We did not have them then so they were worth £0 and that's how much they will be worth in 4 years.
What's the betting if we accept this that they perform really well and hit all targets in the first 3 years, and then surprise surprise the last year we perform so badly that they are worth nothing when we get to cash them in.
forgive me but you have entered

True blue terrier,i take it from your reply that you will back your union if anyone of these 1700 people are given compulsory redundancy. If that is the case i will apologise for saying people should be grateful and so selfish.

100% - since I have been with RM I have never broken any picket line, and have backed the Union by attending 90% of picket lines at my office. I have voted in support of every strike, but sadly voted against every agreement the CWU and RM have come up with.
I am also attending the March for the Alternative and demonstrating at the Conservative Conference. In the past I have attended anti privatisation demos at Labour Party Conference and attended local Union marches when able. I am not boasting but it gives you an idea how I support the Union movement. I have also said on here that I would support a CMA picket line http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... et#p326579" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; although I have to be honest it did take some thinking about especially because of local issues.

Welcome back robmmacca - Your post has it spot on and I just hope Union members don't adopt a short sighted view and because of bad feelings don't back the managers when and where possible.
Ok they attacked us during our various disputes and they did our work when we were on strike. They have a corporate bullying style of motivation and regularly brief against workers and Union officials.
But if we don't back them and support their strike then I would have to ask what makes that any different to them crossing our picket lines, but more importantly we should look at is as an opportunity not to get at management, but to make a stand on what will eventually be coming our way.

Don't be so sure. There are plenty of us willing to fight to protect our colleagues. Although you're right that there are some who need a reality check, particularly over the plight of those who've already faced CR. There were some who seemed to take great pleasure in that.
Don't knock Insanity
it's just another outlook on Reality!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Long term sick....right through the summer....maybe longer.
Takin the piss aint he?
