Postie suspended after mail is found dumped

A postman has been suspended after a postbag full of confidential letters and documents was found dumped on wasteground in Lanarkshire.

Mail was scattered around an area behind homes in an area of Kilsyth known locally as Tottie Park.

And a full bag of letters was found hidden in nearby bushes by a boy out playing.

Local resident Jean Naylor, 38, was stunned by what her 14-year-old son Tommy discovered.

She said: “There were letters with NHS on them – people could be waiting for test results.”

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said: “We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by this incident.”
