An honest citizen has been left fuming when police repeatedly raided his home by mistake after they confused his address with a similar-sounding street name in the area.
Matthew Jillard, 38, from Birmingham, has reportedly said that his address was wrongly targeted 40 times in the past 18 months by West Midlands Police - with the most recent botched raid striking two weeks ago.
According to Mr Jillard, riot police have turned up at his door in Repton Road when they should have been around the corner in Repton Grove, 156 yards away.
Last Christmas, Mr Jillard's family celebrations were disturbed as officers called at his home twice during Christmas dinner. The handyman and his girlfriend also claim to have been woken up in the middle of the night.
Following three complaints to police and diversion signs plastered on Mr Jillard's home, the couple feel as if the problem hasn't improved.
Speaking with several UK newspapers, Mr Jillard said: "When I explain I'm not the man they're looking for they are always very apologetic - but I just want it to stop now. I could see the funny side at first, but 18 months on, I'm getting really annoyed. I've never been in trouble in my life, and to have blue flashing lights and riot vans turning up on your doorstep is embarrassing."
"Luckily the neighbours all know about the problems we have and are very understanding - especially when the whole street gets woken up in the middle of the night."
A West Midlands Police spokesman confirmed the blunder with Yahoo! UK News. He said: "Officers have attended an incorrect address in Repton Road on several occasions. Officers have been in regular contact with the occupier to apologise for the mistakes."
"A number of measures have now been put in place to stop this from happening again."
Police said they couldn't confirm the exact number of times Mr Jillard's home had been raided, but suggested that the amount quoted in the media could be an exaggeration.

Sums up the people of this country rather well.I could see the funny side at first, but 18 months on, I'm getting really annoyed.
In another 18 months he may even write a letter..he won't post it though..that would make him an anarchist.

And the second time they would meet my lawyer..the third time there would be nobody home because i would be sitting on a beach somewhere dreaming up ways to spend the compensation.
I seriously doubt there would be a fourth time never mind a fortieth.

Or under extreme sedation. Something is not right anyway. Forty times? Never.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
